Beautiful glowing orangish red kickin 193mW with a 3-element lens ^^

Diode: Opnext 120mW Single Mode 638 Diode (HL63603TG)

Host: http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/ozark-trail-2-piece-aluminum-flashlight-walmart-86554.html

22600 Battery: http://kaidomain.com/product/details.S009416

It has been a while since i picked up several of these flashlights to do a few builds on (Prolly single mode red/blue/green trio), and one of the reasons it took me so long to finally start building was a lonnnnggggg shipping time on my 22600 batteries from china!

See one of the photos below, the 22600 batteries are slightly longer but diameter-wise they replace the 3xAAA battery holders perfectly!

So once my batteries were in, i ordered a diode+driver combo from DTR, took a few measurments to cut a heatsink at work, and conveniently enough i was able to do the build using all the internal components of the flashlight (minus the led diode/cone etc) and just shorten the spring and bypass the high/low/strobe components on the contanct board that came with it by soldering to the bottom of the board! (see before/after photos below)

With 3-Element lens =

Odd, not much increase, here is with G9 lens =

Before modification =

After modification =

I'd bet you a dollar that crapfire battery isn't even a 26650, see the link in my sig to find out why...

eta: regarding beam shots, smoke helps :) Light up some incense, that's what I do.

Your absolutely right, its not. Its a 22600....

I searched high and low, And my search results yielded NO other manufacturer of the 22600 size battery other than ultrafire. and i even directly contacted the site via email telling them I planned to conduct thorough tests and disassemble 1 of the 5 batteries I baught to make sure they were authentic. Their reply was simply assurance that the batteries came direct from the manufacturer. No third parties.

i usually just drill a whole through the existing pcb in the middle and run the positive to the spring from there, but your way works too :p
