Default O-Like Transformable 50mW Green

Hello guys, I'm still a bit of a n00b so don't be too hard on this crap little review.

[Price & Shipping]
I ordered it on the 16th and received it on the 29th, which is pretty good for O-Like. The laser was $41 USD + $5 USD shipping.

As always O-Like didn't put a warning sticker on the laser and declared it as "Flashlight for gift".

[Appearance]

I'm impressed with the appearance of this laser. It doesn't look like a harmless flashlight like the 200mW red new style(mine came with no sticker), or a safe little toy like a new wish pen. This looks like a powerful badass device (which it is!)

It's fairly big due to the large 18650 cell. However you can remove the extension tube and use CR123 cells, however this may reduce power and will significantly reduce battery life

The laser came in a nice white box packed with bubble wrap.

Inside the box

If I recall correctly O-Like actually stated a CR123 cell was included but to my delight instead of finding that I found a protected 18650

[Safety]

This laser is extremely bright and goggles are essential. My goggles haven't arrived yet so I'm restricting my use of this to night pointing. Stupid focalprice. One good thing is that this laser comes with a key lock, so if you have young children or stupid people in the house they won't blind them selfs if they happen to find this laser

[Power, Optics & Burning]

Susie told me she metered this laser and it comes in at just under 60mW. Slight overspec which is always nice. The divergence seems pretty good but I'm not really an expert, the dot seems smaller at 100m than my crappy green trademe. The dot appears to be TEM00 but I can't look at it directly because it's so bright.

I haven't been able to much burning because of the lack of goggles. It caused a red match to smoke and leaves a black mark on it but not ignite, and it burns black things. It's hard for me to get a picture, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

The beam is very visible even on the clearest of nights it's a solid green line. Even in a lit room the beam is visible. It's day atm so I'll have to upload some pictures of that tonight

Hope you liked my review. If you did please share the love and give me some rep.

Hey.. Can you tell me what kind of CR123's you have? And post a pic?? My ultrafire rechargeable ones are apparently not the right size... they dont let the tailcap fit correctly =/

The CR123 I used was an Energizer 3.0V Primary I got from a supermarket

My guess is that your batteries have a protection circuit that makes them marginally longer

That laser uses 18650's not CR 123's. If your 18650 ultrafire doesnt fit, its probably the protected version, which are a tad longer, get the unprotected ones.

It can use both. The extension tube is removable to allow the use of CR123s for portability. But yes it's most likely the protection circuit.

Interestingly the ultrafire 18650 which came with this laser is quite a lot shorter than the no name 18650 battery which came with my shenzen-wholesale blu-ray.

It doesn't even fit into my DX charger properly. Oh well I ordered some 18650s a few weeks ago they should come soon (hopefully!)

How are you, mewrox99!

What kind of 18650 batteries do you use right know? Ultrafire or something else? Protected or unprotected?

Do you see a protective support around the spring -at the negative terminal- when you take off the tail cap and look into the tube?

Something like this:

450mW 532nm IR filtered green laser torch inside:

(I had to send these pictures to O-like because the spring broke off after the second use. I hope they will fix it...)

Thanks in advance for your answer!

I use the Ultrafire 18650 batteries that came with it and sometimes I use Energiser 123s when I want portability.

I tried to use some DX protected 18650s I think they're called Trustfire or something but they were too big to fit into the laser

Does your laser have a support around the spring -at the negative terminal- when you take off the tail cap and look into the tube? (See my top pic above.)

Great review! I actually read this before I got the same laser... I just received my 50mw greenie as well the same one you got. Might I say for a first laser its fantastic, my gf and I absolutely love it.. I ordered the laser, a charger for 18650, and safety glasses.

when the order came in I received
- one 50mw green laser
- one charger
-one pair of glasses
- two 18650
-one CR123

I did ask o-like during the purchase if i could exchange the CR123 for a 18650 since im getting the charger and will have no use for the CR123, but in my delight i got both! lol cheers
