So I just received this 1W blue laser from o-like for only $54 So far the host looks really cool, and it runs off one battery. HOWEVER the battery most likely did not arrive charged, as when I turned it on, there was a bright flash, then it quickly dimmed. I trust o-like, so I will charge the battery and update. In the meantime, however, enjoy this host! (yes I know I have a crappy chromebook camera don't judge me)

EDIT: I charged it for a few minutes (maybe 20), and that problem has been fixed, but the dot isn't well focused. It doesn't seem to be running at a fulll 1W either though, so i'm charging it for a few hours.

Yes fully charge the battery first.

I hope the flash was not from putting the battery in the wrong way and damaging the driver or laser diode.

You can focus it however you want by turning the knurled piece on the output end counter clockwise.

Use good safety practices --wear laser goggles/protect you eyes---be safe

the flash was not from wrong polarity, I use goggles, I turned it on in excitement and got a headache, that taught me a lesson. The problem with the focus is that the dot is pretty wide even when fully focused

How far away is the smallest spot when you try to focus to the smallest point closer to yourself? Yes, always fully charge a battery before use. It is very rare to receive any rechargeable lithium battery that is already charged past about 3.7V. Also, I realize you are excited but take a few deep breaths as it is easy to make a simple mistake such as putting the battery in wrong or looking at the end and you get hit in the eye with the beam. Please be careful!

About 6 inches, the only reason im a bit dissatisfied with the focusing is that my overspec 405nm unfocusable pointer had a tighter spot than this one, but I assume that is common with these types of pointers, as this is my first 445nm laser over 400mw

UPDATE: I have mostly charged my batteries. Here is a beamshot https://imgur.com/Tf2AnwZ I only have one since I need to take it with an actual camera that doesn't pick up 445nm as 405nm light
