Default NewStarLaser 100mW Green Labby

This is a review of the laser here in this thread: http://www.laserpointerforums.com/fo...num=1216181819 I just thought, what the hey, I'm in the market for a labby so I purchased it to do a review on it And finally I've found time to do that review

Firstly the laser. Overall I'm quite happy with it. It's got a very solid construction and looks pretty cool. It has a 'quality' feel to it, I'm sure you know what I mean there

As for performance, it works quite nicely. I measured the output at a stable 140mW average, not too shabby for a 100mW laser An output graph I made for the laser over an hour can be found below. Once it warms up it is very stable, and sits comfortably at 140mW Measurements done with my Laserbee 1000mW Power meter, and its logging function!

Beam specs are fairly good. Both divergence and beam diameter are a little larger than advertised though. Both beam diameter and divergence aren't as good as my RPL. But really the difference isn't much, you'd need a side by side comparison to see the difference. And also, since I'm going to use it in a laser show, as long as the beam specs are reasonable it doesn't matter.

One thing I found pretty nice is the fans. I didn't think labbies would have fans (except for the high powered ones) but this thing has two! As well as being TEC cooled, the laser has a fan in the back of it for extra cooling. You can see it in one of the pics below. And the driver has a fan as well. These both do a really great job of keeping everything cool.

Finally the company. I was very happy with the service they gave me. The shipping was fast and customer service was good. I'm very happy with the product they sent me, so I'd say this is a trustworthy company to deal with

Here are their two selling threads on the forums if you are interested:

PICS!! No beam shots I'm afraid though, my camera is very old and they come out all blurry and bad.

Oh, and I noticed my Apple Juice has featured in all those shots. I bought it to drink, but instead now I just shine lasers through it because the beam comes up really well ;D

Hey, don't just order because I liked it! Make sure to check through all your options before deciding anything

But this one is a pretty nice option
