For lens cleaning I use Isopropyl alcohol & a 50W ultrasonic cleaner, you can pick them up cheap on EBay

I've personally never used isopropyl alcohol. Does a higher percentage work better? 99% over 30%? Also does it degrade the coatings?

Oh and your avatar is um interesting lol

Udanis I always get the 99.9% pure, It does not appear to effect the coatings

Hey, if clean the lens with a Q-tip and little dab of isopropyl alcohol did not clean your lens then it most likely is Damaged, Scratched and or Brunt Dust on the lens witch is not removable.

I believe it to be Scratched from all the times you have tried to clean it.

Can you take some Close Ups or Macro shots of the lens that is in question.?

I always used a nice little trick I learned a few years ago when cleaning my telescope reflective mirror, 99% Isopropyl alcohol diluted with distilled water.

70 - 30 mixture always gave great results. Plus when it dries there is no residual left over :)

I must implore all laser owners: Never, ever, *EVER* use isopropyl alcohol (aka. rubbing alcohol) that has glycerine in it!!! :(
Many types of rubbing alcohol that you find being sold in drug & grocery stores contain glycerine.

The safest bet if you're uncertain about rubbing alcohol containing glycerine or not is to use video/audio tape head cleaner. These are typically composed of 100% isopropyl alcohol with absolutely no trace of glycerine.

It *IS* however, kosher to dilute alcohol with water; I'd recommend distilled water here to prevent any chance of dissolved minerals from clouding or otherwise contaminating the lens surface.
