ok so i found the post thread button... hahahaha all these months and only found that button now. i'm just not use to this forum set up... took awhile to find the b/s/t navigation as well. anyways...

ok so i've heard some bad things about this site. i had a positive experience for the most part.

this product was around 670 or so including ups shipping.

let's first start by looking at a pic of the case this laser came with.

it has a pretty snug fit so the laser body doesn't bounce around or fall out... at least i've never had that problem with carrying it all over the place and the case rolling around in my bag as i move it where ever.

next on to the picture of it fully assembled.

now on to power. the laser site says it's 300-360mw, i don't have a LPM. i have pictures to compare it to a rayfoss 100mw. rayfoss's 100 if i had to guess is around 70 of green light (correct me if i'm wrong or way off XD) That is reflected off of the white box rayfoss' lasers normally come in so its all blobby looking. i totally forgot to get a pic of the dots when viewed from protected glasses so you can see the actual size of the dot (if anyone needs that pic i will post it.) i think it's clear that the dot isnt bigger cuz of mrad, but rather the brightness. this laser does appear to have a power that is with in the 300 range based on other lasers i've seen (unless they were all underspeced) XD

this is a beam/dot shot at 9:36am hawaii time.

FYI that's my sis' poster not mine XD LOL.

now on to the only fault i found with this product so far. it's not TEM00. i talked to someone on LPF i forget who it was (sorry XD) and they said that it wasn't detrimental just lacks burning power, unable to do certain experiments, and lacks cosmetic. since i had no need for burning ability since i have a 8xBR i kept this one, but i was told that mode hopping is enough for a return since they claimed tem00. the tem is more like 03 or something like that if i remember right, its' a dot cut in like 4 pieces vertically ()|||() something like that pic<<< but rounder of course XD.

it could just be that i got a bad one and that most are tem00 when they ship it out the first time around.

the one thing i find a bit disheartening when i referred back to the laser for this review right now is that they changed the duty cycle to 100/10 meaning 100 sec on 10 sec off. i hope that's just to show a more conservative cycle. originally it was 5 min on max. i sure hope they didn't get caught "over stating it".

sorry if my words aren't all technical or pro like the tem pic i tried to make with the text XD LOL. i'm more of a laid back person i guess? this is the end of my review. sorry to put rayfoss in this review, but it's only reference of power i had. rayfoss is a good seller though... actually she sells a laser that looks similar to this one with similar stats. she started selling it after she updated her site which looks cool now, she's cool by me too :)

Cool laser,

how come for such a high price you didn't go with opto, or rayfoss/o-like? :)

Thanks for the clear review and pictures though, sure everyone here will appreciate them, +rep :)

Regarding the duty cycle, it may be a change they listed to avoid liability of damages that may occur due to overheating. All lasers behave differently and like different temperature ranges.
Before you worry about what duty cycle you should use, test it's stability over time with a stopwatch. If you had a power meter it would be easier.
If the power or mode fluctuates a lot after X amount of time and the laser body feels warm, then you are at the limit of the operating cycle and should use that time period as your rule. Also, warmth is not a sure indicator that your laser is overheating. In most cases it just means that the body of the laser is effectively transferring heat away from the module as it was designed to to.

One other thing to consider is what is "warm to touch." If your hand is cool and your laser is at room temperature, your laser will feel warm. On the other hand (no pun) if your hand is warm and your laser is at room temperature, your laser will feel cool.

My PGL was recommended to be run for 60 seconds continuously max. but I sometimes run it for 4+ minutes in cooler ambient temperatures. All DPSS lasers that I have owned have a different "personality" so I treat each of them according to what keeps performance optimal.

thanks for your guys comments.

realista, i'm pretty sure it's higher than 200mw of pure green because a double power is a step up in brightness. it's like if u have a room with 2 light bulbs in and you take one away, that significant difference is a step in brightness. but yeah i wouldn't say i could guarentee it's 300+ i've been meaning to look into a LPM.

and yeah RA_pierce i never use it til it gets super warm or anything. it stays pretty cool for the most part. i don't like pushing my lasers, but if it ever gets warm then i turn it off. and yeah i'm aware that perception of hot and cold has a lot to do with your surface temp; that's why you can't really tell if u have a borderline fever and people ask someone else to feel their head. :)

and well asherz o-like and rayfoss don't have a preassembled 300mw laser of green. o-like only has that module thing. rayfoss later added a similar laser to her site after the site was updated (as i mentioned in the post). honestly... i would've bought from her if she had it on her site at the time. she has garnered a good reputation with this forum and plus i've bought a laser from her before with good results. i also trust o-like as well. actually rayfoss' version of this one is cheaper by a noticeable amount. :p

as far as opto goes i dunno.

i don't think laserpointerpen.net are bad (at least in my experience), i just think competition has lowered the price as in example of the one on rayfoss' and laserpointerpen.net hasn't kept up. some of their other lasers are like crazy expensive, like their red 200 mw. it cost a 100 bucks. it looks like the ones the other sites sell for 50 bucks. 2x the typical price. (maybe it's better some how o_O) LOL.

if anyone thinks something i'm saying is like way off or something just let me know. i ain't a laser pro :p
