If you want a GREAT LPM for a VERY reasonable price, that gives you fantastically accurate readings, buy a LASERBEE I, cost ? under $200.00 USD. If you want to get a little bit more sophisticated, buy the LASERBEE I with the DATA LOGGING FEATURE, cost ? under $300.00 USD. The DELUXE MODEL comes with all the critical parts, neatly enclosed in a custom made project box made just for the meters major parts, including the back-lit LCD read-out display. The sensor merely plugs into the side of the meter, & the data logging feature plugs into just about any computer, & after downloading the instructions, & the DATA LOGGING PROGRAM, you are then able to see your lasers out-put on the PC screen, & if you have a printer hooked up, you can actually print-out the results of the laser test. This LPM is a cinch to use, & Jerry, from Bauer Electronics, is a very knowledgeable individual, who is VERY helpful if you should have any questions regarding the usage of this LPM, after all, he designed it & his company builds them. This is my 2nd type of LPM & I rate this one, a 10 out of a possible 10. rob aka phoenix77

it be better if it woulnt use that obsolete plug,comon jerry use usb!



Usb data logging 3> it will get you more sales.
*only my old tv decoder use this.

Because your computer does not have it does not make it obsolete..
All the computers plus all the laptops in the shop have an RS232 port..

All you need to do is get $3.00 RS232 to USB converter Cable if you
don't have a 9pin Serial Port on your computer...

We can't design and add a USB interface to the LaserBee I for $3.00...
The extra cost would make the LaserBee I cost more.. and for the hobbyist the
idea is to keep the price low.

My pc has it, it doesnt have internet yet( cannot find the damm driver)
A usb would work well wth a laptop. I was thinking about portability...




Gwarrrr its driving me nuts!
I wish i had my laserbee. I spent the whole day once again looking for a dammn job.
Im thinking of going to france for a job -.-

I totally agree with phoenix77 enthusiastic comments; herewith are some pictures:

Pict 1 shows my LaserBee/PC connection; as my PC USB socket is a little bit difficult to reach, I bought a USB-USB extension cable of 1.5 m length, that i store hooked up on the PC side when not in use; I connect the USB to RS232 cable to this extension (I have used a "special" background, he he).

Pict 2 shows the Data Log windows as appears on the monitor. Two small info: the Data Log output file is a .txt, so, while using excel, you have to open the file using the "all files" option; you have to choose the file name and the location on your PC before the recording starts, by clicking on the "Log Filename" button, then select "Log to File" and remember to click on the "Run" button just before directing the laser beam on the sensor.

Pic 3 doesn't need any comment, rather that it arrived from DX.

I must say that Jerry has produced an exceptional tool at a very reasonable price; this LPM (which uses a thermal sensor, so no problem whatever is the laser wavelength) gives to any laser hobbist, who loves to realize his own lasers,  the possibility to verify the OP (Output Power) he has been able to obtain, and in addition is a good support to verify more technically if his bought lasers are within the seller specifications or not.
