Well, this is not its final form. It's still running with the X-Boost @ ~310mA and a single 26650 w/ a slug inside. The weight just feels wrong. My X-Drive @ 295mA will arrive in a couple of days. Then, I'll sink the driver into the pill and use both 26650s. Then it will have some serious heft!
When it is in its final form, I will finish the formal review portion of this thread. No need to start another thread.

When you do declare it complete, I for one want to know what kind of duty cycle you get with that host with the x-drive.

I don't know that I will ever truly TEST the duty cycle capabilities. I really do not want to kill this diode. Suffice it to say, considering the host and heatsink were designed specifically for >5min duty cycles w/ the 9mm, I have no doubt that I could run this until the batteries die and never overheat it.

Once it is complete, I will try to log charge-run-times and see how long I can get between charges w/ these 4000mAh batteries. I would have to run the numbers again, but I believe the driver will regulate this 8Vf diode until the batteries drop to ~3V.

Isaac, I am sorry this is such a tease for you. Sinner did promise me a rush on this host, specifically. That and the Customs Dept. destroying all of their packaging slowed things down. I'm sure you'll get yours soon.

Which host did you order again, and what are you going to put in it?

Yeah, I was just curious as, like you said, the host is designed to handle alot more heat than what the pl520 can dish. Although this guy seems to put out some heat being driven as high as we are driving them. I get nervous running mine longer than 1 min.

When I was running my tests, before the host arrived, I had it in an MXDL heatsink. I'd say the max run time was around 2 minutes. I didn't notice any concerning heat.

I'll let someone else push the hell out of theirs.
