Reginak, I found that same problem at first. It helped me to play around with flash/no flash and having fog in the room really helps. I also found that having the light on increased beam visibility in pictures because the camera wasn't freaking out at the color overload. I probably took ~100 pictures and just took them until I got good, focused pictures that I liked....I probably tossed 70 or more photos one at a time lol.
If possible, Jetlasers will see if a new focusable head can be designed without ruinning the consistent look.
