I need to do a longer review and more pix but just for tonite (and the new owner of this excellant laser) this should suffice. I had a lot of probs tonite due to the shut downs and re-boots but I understand that Avery is only doing what he needs to. Therfore plz excuse my doble posts.:undecided:

EDIT UPDATE-
Andrew's(Whodunit) 445/1000--PL-C JETLASER
It peaks at 1155mw(average of three tests)- stable average 1140mWs. Diode is from the 140.
The focusable Beam is ~3mm at apeture and 14.3mm at 18 feet(~size of a quarter). w/o glasses it looks perfectly round however w/ glasses it does show the typical 445 shape. At 18 feet it is 14.33mm X <3mm.
Being what it is, I am not surprized that it goes thru a pair of 16340s fairly fast. That much power is like that. Having a second pair(or more) on hand is a must. I see no issues if you want to run with one 18650 for a 225+mW 445.
Like all the other PL-Cs this laser is extremely well built-smooth threads- shock and water resistant. But only a fool would risk dropping it or getting it wet.:tsk:
Personally I would never run for more than 1 min with at least a 30 second rest. I also would not be surprized to find that it could run safely for a much longer time.

Price when this one came out was $290 and it (as they all should) comes with fair quality broad band stylish wrap-around glasses(or goggles style if you want) and a very nice case/lens cloth. It has two safety keys and this one has been altered to allow it to be removable in either position.
There is a pin that must be inserted into the tailcap. Making a pin from a headphone jack would allow one to leave it in place--thus more user friendly but less safe.
The off/on side button can be accidently activated so great care should be taken to be sure this laser is not turned on inadvertantly.
The only 'con' I see is the very bright blue LED 'on' light-I put a small piece of tape over it to cut down the brightness. Another way is to hold the laser with this pointed downward and thus out of your eyes. It actually makes walking in the dark a bit easier by lighting up the area at your feet....lol..It does not have delayed start but it does have the others needed. I do not recommend going around the safety features especially if anyone will have access and do harm. Always use proper eyeware. For the price(IIRC $23 thru the GB) the glasses provided are Ok. I use the best I own but feel that they hopefully will protect most guests somewhat.

The batts go with the neg end to the diode. btw

For this GB JETL has added the charger and a nice large glass diffraction grating. I have sweetened the deal by adding a pair of rechargeable batts and a few other goodies to show Andrew how much his waiting with patience was appreciated.
The first one needed adjustment to the focus. This ended up taking several weeks. All shipping was paid by Gray.
The cardboard box is Okay but this laser deserves better.
JETL offers a six month warranty.
While more costly than others available the extra features-high quality host and warranty make that added cost a non-issue IMHO.
ALSO to clear up any misconceptions---
JETL is NOT a drop shipper and Gray is on the sales staff there- NOT the owner or CEO(he wishes-lol)and aside from us he must make his bosses and tech staff at JETL happy also.
I am not an employee of JETL(or AixiZ--I wish I were) and do not add anything to the cost of the lasers or to the shipping.
I have gotten some samples for testing and review.
Many others here at LPF have also received samples as well.

Here is most of the rest- Jetlasers IMO stands behind thier lasers. I have owned several Pl-Cs some for about a year and a few hours on most with no issues and the same output. so I will surely ...'Have fun with it while it lasts' ...I think that will be a long time.

n/p aussie-- like most things in life- enjoy while we can, you never know when the day will come when the day will not come.

At least JETL still cares after the sale.
