I screwed up what I wrote and edited it but apparently didn't hit the save button. It is now fixed.
The one unit is the same as other 405nm and the other is WAY darker NOT lighter.
The beam is difficult to see in dark with the darker one while the "normal" 405nm is pretty easy to see in complete darkness.

Excellent test results! It looks like
these diodes may not be binned at all and
cover a 20nm or greater range of wavelengths.

The uncoated acrylic lenses in these are
very fragile. I don't recommend trying to
clean them, even if there is dust or even
the window of the diode itself. Just leave
them alone. What I thought was dust was
actually lens barrel reflections and now I
have gone through 2 lenses. Just leave the
front piece on and don't mess with it.

Even though I was able to clean the piece
of crud off the window, I still got a
power loss even though the particles were
gone.

If you find yourself in this situation and
need a lens, they are 7mm diameter x 8mm
FL. They are all over the place on eBay.
Just press the old one out of the barrel
with a Q-tip, or a nail or punch if it is
really in there, press in the new one, and
refocus. The threads are glued, but it is
easily broken with a big screwdriver.

I may do a video on this process when I get
the new lenses in.

Most of my cheapo 405nm pens have more output than these units although these do come already focusable so no conversion is necessary. I was not happy with the shipping time and didn't like having to sign for cheap units. I can understand having to sign for expensive items but $6-7 seems excessive when I may have to go pick them up at a post office.

My took also like 3 weeks if longer but for the price its hard to say anything negative, stuff from china usually takes time, sometimes it can be a week for me but dont buy from china if u cant wait some weeks since u buy there because its cheap and not fast delivery unless u pay for express..

So I may have used the laser for about a total of 4 or 5 minutes but nott all at once. and just now the power has decreased by more than 2/3's where once clearly visible in a room to barely noticeable. As I am clearly new to the laser thing is it my fault or just a silly $7 laser?

Hmm, well I don't know then. Brightness
and perceived brightness can depend on a
lot of things like viewing conditions and
how much charge is left in the cell(s).
Unless you have an LPM, there is no way to
know for sure weather the power is really
dropping.

To measure the current you need a
multimeter set in DC milliamps mode. Take
the tailcap off and with the cell in the
laser, put one probe on the battery
terminal and touch the other probe to the
bare metal on the threads. It should be
about 200mA.

Yeah, they work well enough to take a
reading. They aren't super accurate or
durable or anything, but can give you a
good idea of what it is. They're also
handy for checking the charge on battery
cells.

^ Just be careful how you use it as there's no real built in protection with those units that I get free all the time. If you have it already hooked up to something while turning the selector through the wrong measurement it might blow apart on you. I'm not kidding. I let someone have one once and it did just that. Lucky a part didn't hit him in the eye.
