First experience with LAZERER.COM

I've bought, as specified:
OpticPro - Full Angle Protection Laser Safety Goggles for 532nm/445nm Laser, 1 piece
Sanyo UR18650F 2600mAh 18650 Li-ion Battery, 1 piece

I've ordered them on February 5th and the shipping started on February 14th. I've got the postal notice on February 22nd and got the package on the 23rd. I must say, that's incredibly fast. Six working days of shipment from Hong Kong to Croatia, and all in all 17 days of waiting. Well done. :bowdown:

Now for the contents.
The package came in a yellow bubblewrap envelope containing a quite nice black goggle case with a handy clip. Inside there were goggles wrapped in a plastic bag, cleaning cloth and the battery wrapped in paper and little bubblewrap bag.


The battery.

I thought "Sanyo" is going to be written, as well as "UR18650F 2600mAh", but as you see, this is not the case.
Batteries are not my area of expertise, so I did a websearch and found out that Panasonic actually bought most of Sanyo's shares so this should be the battery from link here. It seems pretty fine as I can tell from the PDF. If someone thinks something's wrong here, please tell me.

Pros: The battery looks decent, though I can't test it properly at the moment.
Cons: None. Looks fine.

The goggles.


Pros: Decent goggles that turn everything into horror scenes from movie Shutter. Very entertaining.
They attenuate my 50mW pen laser pretty well, as seen on this photos.

They let some of the light out, and as Lazerer states on their page, they should never be used to look directly at the beam.
Also, wearing them, it's impossible to see the beam in air.
Cons: Every protective goggles of this kind has fine scratches, but this one had a major scratch that looks as if someone was using a screwdriver to erase something.

The goggles could've been better without it, but the scratch is not positioned near the axis of vision and does not bother me while wearing them at all.
I'd say they might be too expensive for what you get, but overall, they're not bad.

To sum it all up, a bit too expensive on the goggles, but I won't complain. The staff is kind and even offered help with future orders that I'm planning to make at Lazerer.com
When I buy my first high powered laser, I'll buy the power certificate they offer, and then make report about the laser at LPF. No way I'm buying a laser without a report. I've already made that mistake with Dealextreme.

For the Goggles contact the seller and ask him to send another

I don't know, man. Seems like too much trouble for something I can hardly see. These goggles are large and if I want to see the scratch while wearing them, I have to look at an angle so steep it start feeling very uncomfortable after few seconds. It would be a pain in the ass to go back to the post office, ship it to Hong Kong, pay the shipment, wait for the money return and then wait for the new goggles, which might have a scratch where I can see it quite well. Murphy's law.

Seem that our shipping department have accidentally send you the wrong battery...That's is our latest instock Panasonic 3100mah 18650. They are not yet being put on our web site for sale. This Panasonic battery have higher capacity than Sanyo 2600mah. It is almost the highest capacity 18650 up on the market now. Of couse it cost more expensive as well .

I once again apoligized for our careless. If you dont like the battery you can send it back for exchange. Shipping will be on our cost as this is our fault. And for the goggle you can send it back in the same package as well. We will exchage a better goggle for you.

I'm very surprised that you ordered a Sanyo battery and yet received a Panasonic battery instead. While Yes Panasonic bought Sanyo, they are still two different batteries. Many companies own more than one brand of a product, and those products stand on their own merits.

I would not be happy with the Panasonic if I ordered a Sanyo, to which I have both brands. The Sanyo's seem to be better for Lasers than the Panasonic 3100 for example, because they get that 3100 rating from going down to 2.5v and the resistance jumps higher. The Panasonic's do tend to work better with some flashlights that run very well down to 2.5v, I believe the Zebra lights was good with them for the rated capacity. Still I have many lights that the Sanyo gives me more run time than the panny does.

Still though, the Panasonic is a good battery; I'm not saying it's not. It's just that when I order a Sanyo battery, that is specifically what I want/need for my application, as both are at the top of the heap of Li-Ions, way better for example than xxxxxFire brands.

It's probably not going to be worth it to return it if you wanted to, but I really wouldn't be happy ordering one brand and being substituted with another brand, regardless who owns the company's brand label. At the very minimal they should have sent you an email asking your permission to make the substitute.

I just received an order of a box of Sanyo's a couple of days, and would have been really pissed if they sent me panny's instead; as in back they go at their expense. I do have several pannys too, for different lights.

I'd just keep it if I was you and email them though and let them at-least know about it for the next time around.

Oh I see while I was typing this, they responded here; that was nice enough of them to offer to take the panny back, and Yes I totally agree money wise; the panny does cost more than Sanyo does. So your call now, they gave you an easy option; very well done to them.:beer:

I'm sure that Lazerer thinks this is a panasonic battery and they are themselves buying them thinking so; but I would be highly suspicious of any lithium batteries being sold online from ebay, amazon or from China based websites. Lithium-ion cells are are one of the biggest counterfeit items coming out of China, so much so that even some of the big notebook & cell phone mfgs. have been duped as they can exactly like the real deal and the big cost savings is too much for some purchasing depts. to pass up. They don't perform the same as the real deal and can in fact be very dangerous as they are made very cheaply and are not up to safety specs, in fact everytime you hear about a laptop or cell busting into flames it ends up being traced back to these counterfeit products.
I would also suspect these in particular because they say made in Japan, but being sold cheaply out of China (two countries which do not get along together as far as international trade goes and the duties they put on the products from each others countries). It just wouldn't be profitable for a company to import they batteries from Japan into China and offer them to the rest of the world, the only way they could make a profit on this would be if the batteries are counterfeit and made in China to begin with.
Counterfeit products from China are a very big business and I bet it won't be long before there is something big to bring this to the forefront. So far it's been mostly high end watches, handbags, clothing and consumer electronics; but I'm just waiting for there to be a major airline disaster or structural accident caused by cheap counterfeit parts.
Sorry for my rant, but everyone needs to know that what you think you may be buying on the cheap online, may in fact not be the real deal.

Just be careful when using these batteries or any bought online from any place other the an authorized dealer and when I say authorized dealer, I mean one mentioned on the manufacturer website as such and not believing an online store that says it's an authorized dealer on their website.

I would keep the Panosonic though, which I'm sure you will too. lol.
