Awe, SHIT ! They are a crap company, man :( Bought a "NEW" 100mw green labby from them, and a USED CNI arrived, that was TEM01 for the first 45 seconds every time it was powered up :( They then retaliated with negative feedback after I hammered their thieving asses to the wall. I had to do a Claim on Pay-Pal in order to get satisfaction. Whatever you get, as long as it works - consider yourself lucky ! If it doesn;t work - only use emails - refuse to allow them to call you, so you have a written record of everything.

I'm guessing you won one of those low initial bid auction they stick up from time to time? ;) I've never heard anything bad about them, they seem to just do what they say and that's it - IE, they don't go all out to impress you beyond belief, but they do what they need to meet the specs they advertise. That's a lot more than I can say about most laser sellers these days, so I wouldn't be too worried. So now you gunna let us in on what amazing deal you got, huh, or just leave me unbearably curious? :p

Hm, well it seems Greg says otherwise :-/. Dunno what the story is there but I've never been too impressed with CNI's module policy. They only guarantee near-TEM00 modes so TEM01 isn't exactly unexpected with a CNI module. Not to mention what happens in the first 45 seconds doesn't really matter anyway. Normally warm up time is 5+ minutes for any laser module and I believe CNI specs 15minutes IIRC, so you can't really hold them to anything that happens in that time.

CNI - yeah...I understand that, BUT - they were not advertised as CNI, nor were they advertised as USED, but they were both :) All in all, I am glad I got my funds back from them, and stuck their sorry asses with a negative feedback. The auction was too long ago to post the link to it, I guess I should have saved it :(

:D ;D ;) ;D

Jure assures me that I will be getting the highest quality laser. That AFTER I told him that it would be reviewed here -- too late to pick a good one !!! I believe it's shipped ;D

We'll see what they have now. I hope he knows about LPF.

Oh - Jure is a "great" person ::) I DO wish you the best of luck with this, Mike - but I am not holding my breath, either. Jure assured me a good laser, too - and I ended up getting used, beat up crap.

Near TEM00 is not TEM01. TEM01 is TEM01. Near TEM00 is a Gaussian beam profile with the peak clipped flat or nearly flat. If you are getting TEM01 then it's not what was advertised.

Here's an axial representation of near TEM00:

Here's what it looks like looking down the beam. The lines represent the measurement axes:

Thanks FC! I've seen CNI try to get away with things like that anyway though :-[. Did you get those pics off the web somewhere, or do you have your own beam profiled too? *prepares to be very very jealous*

No they were not removed from the web, lol. Oh and that is the beam profile for a 200mW 473nm CNI.

Here is another CNI at 500mW 473 that is TEM01:

So if you were told it was near TEM00 and you are getting the images above it's really TEM01.

You don't need a fancy beam profiler. Just point it at a wall a good distance away and wear a good set of protective glasses and view the reflection. TEM01 stands out well.

Mike, I'm not concerned with message boards. Our main customers for DPSS modules are institutions, universities, and research laboratories. These lasers we put on eBay for promotion should be received with open, thankful, and welcome arms.

Jure

That's my last email guys. I fear not --- not :)

Well jeez Mike you should be thankful. But in all fairness, if you got it cheap, then it's a good deal right?
