[quote author=MarioMaster link=1215095305/12#13 date=1215133401]i think he's referring to the fact like i've noticed with my 50mW version in that you cannot focus the beam for long distance pointing - but it's an easy fix all you have to do is unscrew the shutter part of the laser and the focusing lens will be exposed, this has an adjustment itself that you can change to make the focus work properly
How do you unscrew the shutter part?[/quote]
do you mean the entire focusing piece itself? the heaviest part of the laser? you need to use all your strength and turn it and the body opposite directions of eachother.
it's no use tho, cause when you get it off the aluminum part is forced so far into the body there's no grabbing it.

erns have you gone outside and unfocused the beam and shined it at the clouds?? it looks so amazing! so awesome! like your holding a spot light in your hands!!

and while you are at it, shine it through your window's screen. it looks awesome. like this awesome picture i made!!!!:

Take a picture of the real thing, it looks a lot cooler than my picture!

when people say focus to infinity how far is that really?
when my MXDL was working, i was able to light a match from 12 feet away, but this was not FOCUSED, this was the normal sized dot, and it took a few seconds to actually light. i was not able to get it any smaller than the normal sized dot.
The most I've actually got a laser to focus (and focus meaning at a fine point) is maybe a foot or 2.

By focus to infinity, i mean basically that a paralel beam comes out, or as close to that is posible. If you would  turn beyond infinity, the beam would spread without coming to a pinpoint focus fist - like when you screw the lens all the way into an aixiz module.

Code:
focus:

\
 \ /
  *
 / \
/

infinity:

---------

---------

beyond

Good review,I also ordered one of these, but it was not even shipped yet :p.Just one thing, the goggles you bought are for 532nm only, they do not protect from IR,and this laser doesn't have an IR filter,so it spreads A LOT of IR,so be careful and you'd better buy one that blocks 532nm and also IR.

Great pictures! ;D
I would agree with everything.
As far as power goes, my meter shows that mine is outputting a very stable 165-170mW. I think my meter is a little low, but I am going to verify with another. In any case, it is really bright, I do not need to focus it at all to pop "little-black-ballons" out to about 8', instantly. I use the little black balloons intended for "water-bombs", they pop really easy. You can inflate several and blast-away like the Matrix, really more fun than it should be. ;D (use responsibly of course :-/).
I replaced the battery with a 3.7v Ultra-Fire, It did not change my output at all, must be regulated ;)
I am really happy with mine, even if it is not putting out a full 200mW. I may order another and keep sending it back until I get one over 200mW .

it doesnt put out that much IR. less than 10mW if i remember correctly. less than that..

i dont know if you can, buy why would you want it off? I havn't really seen a way to take apart the whole focusing and shutter piece.

Wow,so the way it's built is really good at avoiding IR leakage,I imagined at least 20 or 30mW. :)

Well, if its putting out a stable 170 mW and the rest works as it should, i'd probably keep it ;)

I was going to keep this one, I was thinking of ordering another unit and holding thier "feet to the fire" with it. I am really happy with the one I recieved. Do all of these have the wildly-bright blue LED for the "power on" light? The first time I turned it on, I thought the laser was shooting sideways, I just keep my thumb over it now. Man is it bright

Everyone here know that the biggest problem of this laser is plastic lens. Beam has a very big mRad. Any idea how to solve this problem? Change plastic lens to glass lens?

Is divergence that bad anyway? I've read some complains about it being unable to focus at infinity, which basically results in the same problem, but has a much less serious cause.

I just noticed this warning that is on the DX site, the description of the DX 200mw Green Laser 18650.

"Important FDA Warning for all >5mW Lasers: FDA advices all customers that these lasers may be purchased only if you are NOT a citizen of the United States and you are NOT currently living in the United States."

???
