Darkarmyofone - Mini-RPL - O-Like - [REVIEW]
Intro
Well around a month ago I decided upon buying a green laser, along with Ehgemus's great mini-RPL host.
The Host
The host is some of the best machining I’ve ever seen, the threads on the tail cap are aligned perfectly and the seem between it and the host is almost invisible! The polished finish on the host is great and the over all look is awesom. The only small gripe I have with this host is the red button, I would have prefered a silver one to blend in with the rest of the host but it does work flawlessly and is very smooth, the battery compartment is perfectly sized for my CR123A 3.6V battery. Another small issue is that the spring on the tail cap is quite long, so when screwing it in it can catch occasinally on the end of the battery so a little care has to be taken here.
The Laser
The overal finished laser is fantastic, the beam and dot is so bright it’s amazing with absoloutly no scatter just a soft green glow, in a brightly lit room the beam is clearly visible, and at night it has an amazingly bright solid green beam. The laser operates between 3.0V and 4.2V so a recharable CR123A battery is perfect, I’m using a 1000mah battery off ebay, so the module drains it fairly quickly, but that isn’t much off a problem. The divergance of the module comes in at 1.1 mRad which is pretty decent. The laser was metered by Tyler at 171mW and I am assuming that is without an IR filter, I'm no expert but I would guess that would mean the amount of green light being emitted is definitely above 150mW .
Pics!
I have some beam shots coming soon, hope you find the review helpful!
Question:
I've never owned an O-like module before, but when I use my DX green around 7 meters away the beam size does not change much, the dot is around 2-3mm. But when using the O-like module the dot is around 5mm at that distance. From what I can see on the front of the module the beam can be adjusted so I can just set it for distance pointing, is this correct?
