Here it is folks, the answer to all of your DPSS pen overheating problems. This heat sink is a solid chunk of anodized aluminum, and it looks great. Give your pen a 'mini handheld' sort of look and pick one of these up. Not only does it look good, it WORKS. My x-series peaks at just a hair over 200mW, right around 210 or 215mW. Shortly after that it drops down substantially to around 170mW or so. Then it begins bouncing back and fourth between 170 and 200-ish milliwatts. This heat sink stabilized the laser MUCH more than I thought it ever would. With the heat sink on the pen, it reaches it's peak, takes a quick drop down to 180mW and then climbs up to 200 and holds for a good long while. To be honest I only got this heat sink to make my pen look a little 'snazzier', and I was shocked when I realized that it was actually having a positive effect on performance.

For the price, you cant buy anything better for your pen. Not only will it allow for a longer run time, it just looks cool. I cant say "if you get this heat sink, your duty cycle will be XX amount of minutes/seconds", but I can say it will run longer before getting hot.

Anyway, onto the pictures!! The flash on the camera really highlighted the dust in the grooves, but I can assure you the finish is flawless. Oh and yeah my pen is a bit beat up... it's been dismantled many times. But it's all about how it performs, right?

I think they cost around $25, very good deal for the amount of work that goes into making these!!

The paint comes off VERY easily, my X-105 looked like that one. :p I've kept my 170mW CNI in good condition though.

Most cheap pens these days have a thin rubber coating on what is probably brass or copper. Mine look terrible by the time they die, with scratches everywhere. :'(

Good to know a heatsink can really improve the performance of a pen laser :)

Nice review!
