I keep forgetting to post a review for this awesome laser by Dave :D. Without further ado, I continue.

I recently saw Dave selling a 6x kyrton for $225. Let's calculate the cost of materials:
55 = sled
27 = driver
80 (?) = Kryton
20 = Battery and charger.
182 = Total.

The profit he's making less than the amount of a sled (which I would blow), so I went ahead and bought it. Little to my knowledge that he would include extra gifts, trinkets, and doo-dads. (8mW Red, case for Kryton, and two uranium marbles!)

The laser I bought is amazing. Burns through anything in sight, fluoresces all of my minerals with more intensity than a blacklight would, visible beam in the dark, and everything else a laser of that power could do.

10/10!
My image of the laser shows the anodization as it is in real life. It is not a hot pink, as previous pictures showed. It is a deep violet puple color, as seen in my picture. Actually, on second comparison, the real life specimen is still darker.

http://zaf.garyshood.com/upload/DSC_0111.JPG (I really must get to cleaning that lens ;))

I will post any poses or beamshots requested.

Allow me to make this 100% clear: I am a VERY happy customer! I will do business again whenever I get the chance ;).

Krytons are 60, and the driver is included in that price. Anyways, you got a good deal I think

Yeah, but we can swap out additional costs in there as well for those items. (shipping, packaging, PayPal, case, etc.)

Yeah, but I'm 100% sure this is a lava drive which I am 99% sure is another 27/30.

EDIT:

"...and $25 for any marble or fade effect. The barrel itself with all the required goodies to work minus a diode and batteries is $50"

80 bucks was a close estimate.

Here's a picture of the driver attached the the kryton head.

I'm sure he added the glue/grease/whatever-that-is to avoid the issues if and when customers start to play with the pot or bend the driver.

Doesn't hurt it anyways, so I'm fine with it.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Y'all are cracking me up tonight -- Thanks  :)

It is "high temp" hot glue.  If you heat up the head enough to melt that stuff, you need to buy a labby ;)

Speaking of which, what is the duty cycle for these? I haven't really been trying hard to follow one, but I never run it for over 2 minutes max.

We haven't really established that yet.  However, I believe, if you follow the duty cycle you described above, you will never have any problems with this laser

I thought I read that elsewhere on this forum. But it was an old post. Thanks for the info (and the laser ::))

Actually this particular Kryton was $80.  $55 for the Kryton (shipping included) and $25 for the polished anodizing.  That price did NOT include the flex drive.  The flex was $18 on top of that cost. Now that is if this particular flex was purchased with this barrel. I do not know for sure. It is however irrelevant as it's still a great laser and worth well over $300

Nice review! I just ordered his last 200mW Kryton build. I'll have to keep coming back here to satisfy my excitement until mine arrives. :)

You got my last Kryton Groove laser.  I still have two 200mW Kryton Smooth lasers available

The Smooth barrels are the original (and more rare) barrels

Just had to add to the thread - I recieved my 2-tone 6X from Dave yesterday, and as always, the build is impeccable and the laser is just plain perfect in every way.

I snapped a ton of beamshots last night before the show, here's one of my favorites (the other 2 lasers are a dilda running 3.6v CR2's and the green is a FP pen style putting out just over 100mW)
