Those look good. From my own tests those goggles can take a pretty damn good beating from high powered 445s. I believe the light that you do see is wavelength shifted into longer wavelengths through fluorescence anyway so the intensity you see there is FAR lower than that of pure 445nm light. If I had to take a guess I would place the light you do see as basically the same as looking at the spot of a flashlight.

I've seen a lot of cheap but good goggles for blue, green and purple lasers. But are there any cheap but brilliant goggles for red lasers?

i was thinking the same thing earlier this week but forgot to ask. we have these uvex for 405-532nm but what would be a cheap way to protect against 638-660nm? i myself am buying some eagle pair but i would like to have something to recommend to buyers on a budget

Yeah exactly. I'm most likely going to buy an Eagle Pair if nothing else is recommended but I would like a cheap alternative for extra pairs for guests or something.

Uvex shade 5.0 are promising, although tests from another member didn't add up to what I saw, so I'm not advocating their use, in case there is significant variation from one set to the next.

With the SCT Orange ones - they've been tried by many people here.

What are the "SCT Orange ones"? Do they protect against red wavelengths?

Does anyone know about THESE ones from Lazerer?

According to UVEX spec sheets THESE should block out almost all 660nm light. It appears that they may be unsuitable for 638nm lasers sadly. I am actually going to grab a couple pair to do some testing on them myself since I have had this exact dilemma.

EDIT: Well, I just noticed that the other pair are almost out of stock. I'll try THESE instead.

EDIT: Just ordered them.

The goggles in this review for example. The tint is called SCT Orange.

Looking forward to your results :)

Part of my problem, is I also need goggles that will fit over my glasses.

So the goggles in the OP (THESE) will be fine for about 150mW of 450nm?

From your testing it's obvious they are, it's just hard to believe such cheap goggles can be so good.

"so good" is in the eye of the beholder. i have a pair of these and tested them yesterday wit my 1.5W 445nm. they do give a much larger dot then the eagle pair i have. id say roughly 2-3x the size. ill post a picture when i can to show the difference

It's been over a year since I did this testing, and went through another ~5 pairs with non destructive tests. It's possible a different dye is being used, or something else has changed in how they are being produced.

There is a reason I place them into my "better than nothing category".

Still... my experience has been that they work fine.
