well, it does a good job provided there arent major obstacles ahead. Besides, 144MHz here has gotten really noisy recently due to the unlimited proliferation of poorly shielded digital equipment (routers, pcs and whatnot). It only takes a fraction of a microvolt to render a 25khz channel unusable
Yeah.. i'm just finding it's useless for long range communication, I can get out 70km max on my 45W Home base.

a directional antenna with low loss coax will definitely help. some people use preamps, but that's just too much for terrestrial work. 70cm and above behave a little like the lasers we all know ;)

How much would I be looking at to get one second hand?

i havent got a clue, but i don't believe they cost the world. You could just point the antenna in the direction where most of your contacts are.

You said you have TYT-900. How is that handie capable of 45W? Maybe you mean TH-9000?

I picked up this same LPM just a week or so again

Johan is very pleasant to deal with and I am very happy with the unit considering the price

well since this has been bumped, i do have a relevant question: do you know if the bluefan basic has a data logging upgrade/option or if he can easily add it to the basic LPM? if your not sure ill shot them a quick email

It should be possible to use it with ARG's datalogging addon, although exact implementation would vary depending on if there is a 1mV/W signal available.

If not, the calibration factor used by Bluefan for the LPM would need to be added to the firmware on the datalogger to give calibrated results.

Thanks for the review. It was my first LPM. :)
I would protect the tec on the front. If the aluminum block falls over the sensor can be scratch or even broken. That happens to me once.

Thanks Blord I went hunting and found these.

Now when my Bluefan gets here I wont worry.
