Hi all,

I've just received the laser I bought a few days ago, so I decided to make a review on it.

Remember the earlier thread for advice on which laser I should get? Yeah I got the second one on EBay.

1003334_4649762381029_393178435_n.jpg

Shippings and items specifics:
Ok so basically, this is a 5mW 405nm violet/blue laser, although I have no idea on why they stated that it was 532nm on the website 0_O It took 15 days to arrive for Hong Kong, but I have no complaints since it was free shipping.

This laser runs on 2 AAA batteries, with about 5000hrs of lifetime. As this is the first violet laser I have, I can't really compare it with others but I still find this laser awesome for its price. It costs $7, without batteries.

Power:
The beam of this laser is mid visible in dark places, and although it's only 5mW, looking at the dot alone can cause some discomfort in the eyes.

Abilities:
It appears violet on most surfaces, and blue on white surfaces. It can also write on GTID surfaces and do some fluorescent tricks, which is totally amazing for just a cheap beginner laser.

Legal Issues:
Although this laser is technically not allowed here in my country, I have no idea how it still managed to get to me, so, yay! :)
However, risks are still there and you wouldn't want to get caught :p

I'll be doing a YouTube video on this soon, so please keep a look out! I hope you guys enjoyed this review, and thanks for reading! :)

Well by the look of it you got a well overspec one if its bright on the eyes 405nm are pretty dull at best if times unless of course its putting out a lot more power than it has on the label good indication if you haven't got a LPM is battery life, put a good pair of alkaline batteries in and if they start going flat after only 15 minutes or so of use you will know its well overspec ,always a bonus
as to customs you win some you lose some literally I've had about 60/40 success rate getting into Australia so just luck enjoy keep those eyes safe

Both my 405 fleabay pens meter at OVER 100mW each. Stop being an idiot and start using safety glasses. If your eyes start hurting then that means you are straining them and starting to cause damage!!!!! Im surprised you havent stumbled upon one of the hundreds of "over spec ebay pen" threads. I would say send it to me and ill meter it for free but your wayyyyyyy out there. Send a message to epicham, he might be able to help. Also surprised you havent read about safety glasses and when your eyes start hurting then your starting to do damage, there are only 10000000000 of those threads too!!!!

Is it possible you could provide a link to the seller from whom you bought the lasers? If not, thanks anyway.

They were from the great people of this forum so dont know who the original seller was, HOWEVER, almost any 405nm laser pen you purchase off fleabay will be between 80-100mW if not over.

PM me for further info :D

"long starring at the dot can cause pain in the eye" is really doing damage to your eyes. pain/strain in the eyes = damaging your eyes. its prob over 100mW and not the ~35mW guessed in the video.

i have one 650nm laser pen that does 3mW. only laser ill use without glasses. i actually like that laser very much and is a SAFE cat/human toy ;)

I know an eBay 5mW 405nm pen laser that metered in at 50mW+... looks exactly like yours. Be careful, DEFINITELY not 5mW

Hey all, thank you so much for all your advice! Decided to get 405nm goggles, from lazerer.com
Is that website trusted?

not a good set of glasses and do some searching and decide for yourself (only say that since they have mixed reviews)
