Hello guys,
Today I finally got my hands to review this masterpiece from CNI.
I bought this laser fairly cheap from eBay seller “existotem” for $350 + shipping.
The lead time was about 2 weeks they said that laser is being constructed and then tested for about 2 days of continuous run. After they shipped it came within 2 days from China to me.
Laser is operating off 90-264V AC power supply. Voltage out of power supply is measured 5.8V.
Let’s start off PSU
Power supply gets warm in 5 minutes, those transistors do good job. Fan keeps them protected from overheat.

Power test shows 1420mw. It is very stable unit <5% stability, beam profile is pure TEM00. I managed to burn my white wall with it. I’m speechless about divergence. It’s same as 490nm Sharp laser diodes we have. Simply amazing that powerful laser has such tight and literally non-divergent beam. :gun:
Pretty sure that contains 10W 808nm laser diode.

Great review,great divergence. You must be very happy and enjoy them

The spec. of 1 mRad full angle (or less) for only a 3 mm diameter beamwidth is outstanding.

I recall reading the specs of some 532 nm lab lasers having a beam diameter at the aperture of 1mm with a divergence of 1mrd. I believe that is achieved wholly or in part by a large relatively speaking beam waist.

I was paying so much attention to your new 532nm laser I didn't even notice you bought ArcticDude's 300 mW 473nm lab laser. Nice acquisition. You have been busy adding to your collection.

Those can be $$$ - I’m impressed 1 watt at 3 mm dia. for that price, but I guess prices keep coming down.

I've heard way way back when 532 nm pointers were mostly unknown they cost as much $2000.
My first green laser cost me $450.

Yes, this is definitely a killer with those specs, I’m wondering if I can make this thing battery powered using buck converter.

There is more that just the pump diode current as it is actively temperature controlled and uses a 5 volt 20 amp PS to power the driver. The head is a lot larger than you might be able to see here also.

On AC Power Suppy is written 5V—8A it’s 40W of electrical power. Or I don’t know something? AC doesn’t get even warm, not having much load on it.

I assumed your switching power supply was the same as mine. Apparently it isn't. Switching power supplies don't generally run hot, so you can't go by that as a measure of how much current it is putting out. I suppose you could make a battery pack to run this laser head and driver using several Li-ion cells. But, why would you want to?

I agree with you, there’s simply no reason to take it out. Unless electricity goes off and you are out of AC power :)

Hmm. I guess I'm pretty lucky as where I live the power has never gone out in all the time I've been here. If it did, firing up a laser would be about as low on my list of things I need to do while it is out, though. :thinking:
