I bought a 250mw "Toplaser" from laserpointerpen.net a good 6 months ago and it is rugged to say the least. They dont sell this model anymore, they sell the "Pioneer" laser which is pretty much the same thing, but in a different style case.

Now, some may say that those models can be bought cheaper somewhere else, but the thing is, lpp takes those from the factory, takes out the crappy laser, and puts in a nice overspeced one. So, they basically just re-use the case.

The build quality is incredible. My top laser is cnc'ed aluminum, 1/4" thick. It survived the following, unintentional drops.
1x 8ft onto concrete.
2x 5ft onto asphalt.
2x 3ft onto wood floor.
1x 3ft onto asphalt while running.
a number of other small drops.

As you can tell, im clumsy. Nevertheless, Other than a few aesthetic scratches, it is still perfect.

When i first got it, it came with 2 lenses, one focusable and one fixable one. The focusable lens was nice, but it was lost a long time ago. The fixed one works fine, though you need a separate lens to focus.

Output power is 275mw green, 50mw ir, after about 100 hrs of use, so i imagine it was 280 new. The beam warms up from tem44 to tem88 over 10 seconds, which is kind of odd but the high tem modes make the beam look no different from tem00.

The pump diode is a 2.5W c-mount centered at 808nm.

They recommend a duty cycle of 1:2, but i have left it on until the battery drained. Other than getting warm, no adverse affects were noticed.

The drive circuit seems to be power regulated. And is powered by 1 18650 Battery. It comes included with the laser + a charger. Luckily for me, i have a whole crapload of 18650s :yh:

Overall, i am amazed at the build quality of lpp's lasers. If you tend to knock and drop things, they are the company for you. Also, they ship to anywhere and have excellent customer service.

Beamshots and video can be found here my 250mw Laser

There is an error in the video. Beam is 1.8mRad, not 3mRad.

Unbelievable that it could be dropped even once on a hard surface and still function.
Are you sure your real LPF name isn't "Lemonwonder"?
I ask as:
1. Lemonwonder was banned from this forum about a day before you joined.
2. You say you got a 250mw pointer from them 6 months ago, but never joined the forum to ask questions before buying from such an unknown site.

Maybe you could just put up or shut up by posting a video of your functioning 250mw pointer that has been dropped 8ft. onto concrete, 2 drops of 5ft onto asphalt and many dropping events; if it really did survive and still works, post the video showing this laser, It's body would look like it's been through WWIII and beating to crap after all that; but the picture of your laser shows it before it had been dropped so many times as it's in near perfect condition. I would like to see the what it looks like now that it's been dropped onto concrete from 8ft and several other deadly drops.

Can't wait to see that video of your working 250mw and how beat up it is after all those drops.
I saw your 250mw laser on your webpage, it's a generic viasho pointer (laserpointerpen.net is just a reseller).
I know for a fact that this model cannot sustain a drop of even 3 ft. onto concrete and the pointer you have is an old 1st generation viasho (at least 3 years old and not as well built as the later generations). The way you can tell is the small power button, those made in the past 3 years have a larger power button.

I know for a fact that it can because im using it right now. It fell off a 3 bunk bed onto a concrete floor about 2 months ago, and it runs fine. If you have any problems with me go kindly shove them up your ass.

If you really want to see scratches, this is all there is

Scratches don't normally happen on IMPACTS.

Concerning bootleg2go's post, let me just set some things down.

  • You have a predisposition to lie (YouTube - MrGoogfan's Channel) - check the age (108). Anything you state as fact can, for all intents and purposes, now be considered irrelevant
  • Your website, "mrgoogfan.com," is hosted by Freehostia, a free hosting provider. You have switched hosts at least once according to your news. (2/6/2010 – Yet again I had to move my site. I now bought my own domain. There may be some broken links for right now, but I’ll fix ‘em.)
  • You have an interest in building things. That's why you're here.

Now let's look at some facts about lemonwonder. I did some pretty extensive research (a.k.a. just Google-ing him), and here's what I found.

Coincidence? I'll let you guys decide.

hey, bootleg2go, you question him like you're the judge, and u're making too much fuss about the little issue that the laser that mrgoogfan dropped(not recommended) still works well. And from this, you then drag mrgoogfan into the law court, questioning his "everything". It's funny.

Let's say, i saw u're a guy in optotronics, and what will u respond if mrgoogfan write a good review of optotronics? i bet u will not question Mrgoogfan's credibility anyway.

It's so mean and meaningless to discuss if mrgoogfan is a good guy or not. Do talk about lasers.

Did you even read what I wrote? He raised a legitimate question, especially given that lemonwonder was recently banned for good reason.

honestly, i don't even know who this lemon wonder person is. If you hate him, so be it. But i am mrgoogfan. Always have been.

Maybe i just felt like lying about my age.

Your website, "mrgoogfan.com," is hosted by Freehostia, a free hosting provider. You have switched hosts at least once according to your news. (2/6/2010 – Yet again I had to move my site. I now bought my own domain. There may be some broken links for right now, but I’ll fix ‘em.)
I used to use oxyhost.com, but their servers died.

You have an interest in building things. That's why you're here.
No shit.

His name is Brendan M. Haddock, and is located in Auckland, New Zealand.
My name is withheld. I be located in buffalo, ny.

In 2006, he looked for free hosting. Link: Free Web Hosting: (lemonwonder) - Open Discussion (Denied due to worthless posts)
Why pay when things can be free?

According to his post, he's interested in web development and other technology.
Web development is boring. I prefer arduino-controlled explosions.

Here is (ostensibly) his facebook: Brendan M Haddock | Facebook
Most notably, this album: Login | Facebook
And here's a photo: Login | Facebook (Permalink: http://devcrate.com/laser/lulz/MrGoogFan.png)
He bears a striking resemblance to the person in this video: YouTube - Villrad Cascade Multiplier - and that person in your avatar...

Holy shit he does look like me and seems to be a ladies man. But like is the key word.

Credibility fail.

My name is withheld. I be located in buffalo, ny.

Yes, and how old are you? Oh, right, you're lying about that. Hm.

So, to you i say. Fuck you, and quit derailing this thread.

Something along the lines of "no sorry, that's not me and here's empirical proof" would have sufficed. I say ban you anyway.

Hi man i did read what u wrote and it seems that you understand "legitimate" in such narrow way,and it's obviously rude to pull the personal pics or records out and make it public or question a guy's identity by reading a laser review.

It's more evil to wrong or cry down people. Let other guys have a say.

You better delete that last pic if you want to have any chance of not getting banned.

We'd be less likely to jump down his throat if he didn't do things like take a picture of himself flipping me off then posting it.

Last time I checked, we don't like trolls.
