I made some beam shots with 3 red lasers. The 638nm has clearly more visible beam than the 650nm laser despite the lower output. The 638nm single mode diode has more pronounce wings around the dot than the LPC815 diode and both dots are round. The 638nm multi mode diode has the famous ugly bar dot.

The setup : 350mW 638 multimode, 175mW 638nm single mode, and 240mW 650nm LPC-815.

The 638nm beams are clearly visible to my eyes. The 650nm beam is hard to see, almost invisible to my eyes but the camera detect the beam just fine.

In real life the color of 638nm laser is more intense. Much pleasing color.

Last shot shining all the three laser above the table.

Nice photos, Blord. Red lasers may not be as "exotic" as some other wavelengths but the red wavelengths are special.

The AMC7135 is giving 350mA, correct?
The spec. sheet for the diode recommends 200mA max.
Are most people over-driving these diodes? This is the only review including this diode that I have seen, I think.

The brightest 635-638nm laser I have built was ~40mW. Even then it was almost as bright as 300mW of 655nm (LPC-815).

This thread makes me miss my collection. :cryyy:
