Here is another Awesome build that I have completed. It is a 1.6W 445nm Ehgemus 14650 Pen Host W/dual flexdrives set to 760mA each, a direct press head and a custom focus adapter in a full aluminum body that I used one of my new A150 diodes in.:D

Ehgemus does it again. This man is a real master with the lathe. I love having the ability to custom order a piece to my specifications.;)

I asked him to make me a special host that was pen sized and uses a 14650 battery. I have been eyeballing the 14650 for a little while now because of the small diameter and they have one that has a 1200mAh rating. Which blows away the best 14500.;)

This host is absolutely amazing at dispersing heat. With the direct press head the entire body is the heatsink and having a lot of surface area the heat escapes with ease. This has a extreemly stable power output. Check out the ten minute run at the end of this review.

A few days later he contacted me and sent me a few photos of what he came up with.

Here is a comparison with a sharpie.

Here is the back showing the very well machined edges.

He has started making these self contained compartment for the driver so there is no worrying about twisting wires.:D

When it arrived the first thing I did was throw in a lens to get some shots of the body of this awesome unit.

Here how the unit breaks down.

I have mentioned it a few times before but the forward clicky switches he uses are amazing. The action is the smoothest of any hosts that I have seen.

This unit uses a direct press head threaded for an Aixiz lens. It bests fits the G-1 from Jayrob but you can use an Aixiz glass lens as well. It will just have the focus adapter stick out a little further. No big deal tho.

rhk0s.jpg

This is the very nicely machined focus adapter also threaded for Aixiz threads. I have screwed my G-1 lens in very tight and placed 1 1/2 wraps of teflon tape half way up the threads for a tight fit when focusing. Make sure you don't have the tape any further down because it can drop small pieces onto your diode window and burn it up.

First thing to do is to press a diode into the head.

EDIT
I have now added a second flexdrive to this build for a 1.55A output. Packing it in was very tight and I did lose a diode by breaking a pin off when trying to cram it all in.:cryyy:
EDIT

Then solder the positive, negative, driver negative input to the case pin on the diode and the positive input on the driver goes to the wire in the driver compartment.

Once you have soldered everything up then just pack it in the compartment and add a very light amount of adhesive to keep the unit together.

And that is pretty much it. Screw the head into the host, screw your focus adapter into the head and pop in a battery.

It is time to lase.:eg:

Now it is time for some power measurements.

---------------EDIT----------------------

Alright I have have upgraded my newest 14650 host. It is now a dual flexdrive 1.6W unit.

All I have at the moment is a Aixiz glass but I have some more G-1 lenses on their way and I will update these when they arrive.

And here is a 10 minute run.

In conclusion this is a great unit for carrying in your pocked. It can handle long duration runs and should last about 1 hour of runtime before the batteries need to be charged. I am very pleased with this unit and take my hat off yet again to Ehgemus.
:thanks:
