It's a 532. Admittedly it's an eBay laser and I know that it's a cheaper model but I'm not sure what the deal is.

The beam is flickering.
It could be a power issue or a manufacturing defect.

Try:

0. Notify the seller of the problem.
1. Try a different new battery.
2. Check that electrical contacts are clean (battery cap, spring, any other connection that is easily accessible).
3. Bypass the tail-cap switch (if there is one) using a wire or a strip of aluminum foil. Be careful not to short-circuit the battery or driver.
4. Let the laser warm up before/during use.
5. Let the laser cool down before use.

How the laser behaves after any of these may give some insight to the problem.

If there is no simple solution (like a manufacturing defect) I would get a refund or replacement from the seller.

Hard to say for sure from the video, but most likely it's just mode hopping.

Unfortunately nothing to be done about it.

Edit: At 0:25... looks like there are two dots... tem01, but it could also just be the way the camera is picking it up/reflection.

A couple times I have thought that i saw two dots but thought it was just my eyes, though at that point it's reflecting off a wrinkle in my pants. The bad thing is, this one IS a replacement after the firs one had such terrible divergence it looked like a grapefruit at 50 ft.

That's what I get for going with eBay... I'm liking my o-like power rock more and more!

Fleabay is a crapshoot when it comes to lasers. If checking contacts/trying new batteries doesn't help (it probably won't) contact the seller, and send a video. Ask for a return shipping tag if they want it back, and a refund.

The driver may need the 3.7 volt LR123 instead of primary cr 123 3.0 volt, I would ask the seller about it first, this could kill the driver or IR diode it depending on the driver.

I saw the video and it reminds me of mode hopping but it could very well be the batteries. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

After learning a lesson and getting a crappy laser from eBay

Apparently you didnt learn any lesson. You should have gotten a refund from the first laser, and not exchanged for another piece of eBay crap.

Get your money back if you still can.

Hang on now, there's no need for harsh words. I had contacted the seller and they had offered to send a replacement prior to the post you so kindly quoted from a completely unrelated thread.

I have already sent the seller a message asking for a full refund of the sale price.

did you ask him about the recommended batteries or the type of IR diode used as a pump and the type of driver used?
you could get one of swims lasers and it seems a better deal than 2 lasers both crap from whoever is making your eBay lasers.
I know if I get a hunkering to try a cheapo its going to be from someone that has a voice on this sight as I like to get a feel from the person I am buying from.

good luck with getting the laser you want, and in another year or two I may try making some dpss lasers

I have one of swims, and I have a power rock 50mW this was an older deal. I'm running rechargables in it but I haven't asked about the diode oe driver. I did turn down the pot just a bit and it seems to have stabilized a small amount.

I have sent the seller a message saying I would like a refund and a paid label to return it. We will see what happens.
