Default Re: what is ir?

I tested an IR filter I had lying around today. I had some color caps for a flashlight I bought, so I took the red cap (the same see-through color as those 3d glasses) and shined my greenie through it and looked at it with my camera phone. The dot appeared light bluish/white. Obviously I knew this was IR, so I took the IR filter and put it over the red cap and shined my laser through both. What I got was a faint green-only dot. So I knew that my Ir filter was actually an IR filter.

I'm not saying in any way use stupid red plastic pieces as goggles, but you can use them to test IR in greens if that is all that is at your disposal.
