What drivers do I need?

I have a 9mm and a c-mount, both rated at 1w. how do I go about powering them?:undecided::thinking:

You will need to refer to the specs provided b y the seller. If you got no specs, a 1W should be able to take 1200mA, some need more. You can test cheaply with a DX 1050mA or 1400mA regulator disk for flashlight. (AMC7135 type) You will need to heatsink the diode well. For 9mm, you can get a Meredith module. There is no module for c-mount, you will need a metal lathe to fabricate your own. These diodes will be multimode, so don't expect perfect beam from one lens. You can make a close range burner with one lens. To correct to a collimated beam will require cylinder lenses and maybe even an anamorphic prism pair. As far as a driver goes, you can use the DDL driver as well. Since the LM317 only goes to 1.5A, you could substitute an LM350, which goes to 3A. A 1 ohm resistor would put you in the ballpark. Make sure that you have IR goggles for these experiments. 1W of 808nm IR looks quite dim to the eye, but is still extremely harmful. 1W of anything farther into the IR range will be invisible, your eyes are damaged before you realize there is a problem. For this Class IV work, goggles are mandatory.

Thank you, that is what I needed to know. One ? though, actually 2....what does ddl stand for, and what voltage/amperage wallwart would you suggest for the lm350 and the 1ohm? I am looking to pump one of the crystal stacks I have salvaged from a 15mw aixiz (>50mw, way over spec) labby, so I'm thinking I shouldn't have too, too much trouble lensing if the stack mounts right on top of the diode.

Oh yeah, almost forgot...would powering the 9mm with the labby powersupply cause damage?

I have no idea where im suppose to post this but here is what im getting at
I want to build my own 445nm blue hand held laser, but what do I need?
I really would like to build my first laser and I'm really interested in building a 1Watt+ 445nm blue laser. Ive been looking and i cant find anything :( Ive looked quite a bit. So from what i have read the pieces i need are: a 445nm diode, 1+Watt driver board, a battery , laser module, and a housing unit for the entire laser. Did i leave anything out? Where do i get the lenses? I cant seem to find any of these things. If you build lasers yourself and would be willing to help me get started that would be great!
