Here's my method of making fan-mounted mirrors for laser spirograph:

I still have some leftover FS acrylic mirrors. Size 1" x 1".
Also I can fabricate fan-mounted mirrors upon request.

Great! Although pager motors are good for the speed regulation, they become a bit unstable at high speeds, I think I'll make one like that one too :D

You could probably sell an assembly like that here on the forum... Not everybody has a drill press..

Not balancing!

You cannot use regular Nicholson file to shape glass.
For this purpose should be some kind of diamond tools and lubricants, work place must be totally enclosed in case of glass destruction, tools are to be operated remotely.
I'm afraid that glass balancing is not for home try.
But if glass mirror is thin and light you can use it with medium speed fan without significant noise and vibration.

Sorry, I meant removing the coating off the aluminum, like you did with the acrylic mirror. You can buy back sided glass circle mirrors cheap.

It's home-made.
I've got acrylic mirror sheet from local plastic supplier, then cut it into pieces. Rest of process is shown in video.
