What value are your pots? Do the motors spin up at all if you have the pots at max? Do you have a multimeter you can probe it with? What are the rated voltage/current capabilities of the power supply?

They're 100 ohm pots but the motors don't work at max or min value and my current supply was 4 AA batteries in sets of two put into parallel for 3v.

Maybe I do not see it in the photo, but (As Scoots said) I see no positive +
(purple) connected to the switches (only orange, negative) , just I see the + connected to the diodes.
Another question, these potentiometers drive directly the motors?
How much power in Watt (0.20W, 0.50W, 1w.... ?¿?¿?) can handle your potentiometers? I ask this because,
if they handle less power than that consumed by the motor, they will burn.

The + connects to the led then the led's - is sent to the switches positive. Or should I have put the led in parallel with the + to the positive and the negative to the -.

Yes
The LED's can connect directly (in the center pins) to the switch, or of the output of the battery, as you want.
And you have to connect directly the positive +V to the switch (in the center connection, on the right side pin of the switch)

Thanks piferal I'll try that out as soon as I find some free time. And does the side that the positive goes to really matter? Or can they be flip flopped.

The positive you can put in the right side, or in the left side, does not matter.
What matters is the connection of the LED's, has to be correct of course, + with +, and - with -.
I would also put 3 switch to turn Off and On each motor (and led) independently.

Thanks for that I tried it and I was able to get 2.8v on my test set up. Probably because my batteries were starting to die. And I know I have an on off switch for the laser and all the motors right now but not individual ones.
