I've bought myself a Raw diode 650nm Red 5mw from Aixiz
5mw 650nm laser diode 5 pack, AixiZ
I'm a little unsure about the pin layout for the diode.
I've created a DDL circuit with 21ma output and done a test load circuit of 3 diodes to get a 2.1 voltage on all 3 of them. All looks great and fine.
Now looking at the Pins of the red diode I've hooked up the Positive to the Pin 1 of the diode and the ground to Pin 2. I get nothing?
On the diode itself there are 2 pins which have darker circle on the base at the end of the pin, which are PIN 1 LD and PIN 3 PD. The PIN 2 Ground has no dark circle on the base of it.
Now, if I remove my 1N4001 diode( the white band was connected to the positive and the other end to the ground) and hook the PIN 2 to positive and PIN 1(LD) to ground I get it to work fine. ??
What am I doing incorrect here? I must be missing something here :|
I also tried hooking up the PD (Pin3) and LD (Pin 1) up, with nothing to ground, this also worked? :|
Also the laser outputs a sort of a wide (horizontal or vertical) beam when hooked up? Is this normal? I will be using a lens to focus it, when it arrives in the mail!
I'm new to the whole world of electronics and lasers! So be gentle with me
