Since I am new to whole galvo scanner sistem but been working with electronics, I have a problem with a laser scanner. It's a 12k galvo, 500mW laser. The problem is when the laser is turned on the galvos slam to the side 90deg off, and stay there and then the amp starts with clicking noise (relay probably), I tried to switch x/y the same thing hapens but now x, the former y does some scanning but it's in vertical position, totaly ofset.
The galvo sistem is this: http://www.laserpic.com/Product_galv...ual_Galvos.pdf
If anyone has some suggestions what could be the reason or just to tell me that they are dead i'll be thankfull.

The clicking sounds like the switching power supply is resetting. It's either failed, out of spec or one of the amps/scanners are shorting out the supply. This would be in line with having the scanners rack to one side. Best bet would be to disconnect the amps, turn on the supply. Most supplies have an LED, make sure it's on solid. If so, turn off the supply and attach just one of the amps, then the second to try and narrow it down to a shorted amp/scanner.

Here is the link to the galvo user manual it;s the 12k version
http://www.laserpic.com/Product_galvo/Product_Manual_Galvos.pdf

x and y are on the same board, the main problem is that every time it does other tipe of error, the voltage to the amp is ok. I didn't see the laser in a while and it was returned broken i now it has been turned on even broken. Is there something i could do to try galvos without amp to narrow down what could be wrong. i took the back plate from galvos and saw that they have some kind of alighment with photodiodes or something, if someone can expalin a bit how that works. :)
thanks for help

I'm not familiar with the laserpic scanners, but for the most part, you should be ok to disconnect the scanner from the amp and see if you still get the clicking noise. Could be a shorted coil in one of the scanners, maybe? When you take the back cover off, you are looking at the position detection portion of the scanner. Basically, an LED, 2 photodiodes and a flag at the end of the rotor.
