Hello,

I just got this 50mW laser, I dont know what model is this, but I wonder if anyone know, it is possible to podmod it? and how to get inside of this?

Do you know what a potmod is? Do you know why it is done? Do you know how lasers are made today? Do you want to destroy your laser?

Peace,
dave

Of course, but never though getting risk of destroy this laser, so here I'm asking if anyone had the same laser (It's first my "full" laser which I bought, I prefer a DIY lasers, but always had problems with crystals to get the best result so I decided to buy one).

As I always thought, potmod is decreasing potentiometer value to get more power from laser (if laser has one, anyway there's always some resistors which can be also decrease), I tried safely get inside, but no succes aswell.

The vast majority of lasers today are already "potmodded" at the factory.  In the old days they were turned down at the factory to be used as lecture pointers so you could "turn them back up" and get a brighter laser.  Now they are all turned all the way up so that they can sell them for more money.  If you want a more powerful laser, buy (or make) a more powerful laser.  Messing with the pot now is either useless or you overdrive the diode and crystals.  Plus, you take the chance of scarring up the host and/or breaking something else in there.  They are NOT designed to be taken apart and put back together by the consumer (or the factory).

Maybe, with the changes in the law in Australia (and probably in the US soon) factories will, once again, be turning the pots down to get them under 5mW.  However, in the mean time, don't mess with it.

Peace,
dave

Haven't seen that laser before but it looks like a nice laser. Also looks like it cost a pretty penny. I wouldn't risk it with a mod. If anything sell it and buy something more powerful from a member here. You can get CRAZY Lasers for cheap here.
