Possible short in host ?

Hey all,

So I have a question for you, I am working on a build using a Trustfire A8 host, plan on using a PL520 diode, and an Xdrive. I spent quite a bit of time with this build as the host seems to be kind of tricky but mounted the contact board, thermally glued the X-drive inside of the host and set it up to my test load to test the current, verified around 290mA. So I shorted the leads on the driver to discharge everything, and hooked up a PL450B I had laying around to test it. The diode was LED/dim... I figured it was a dead diode so I had another "fairly" inexpensive blue diode around, LED also. I don't want to risk hooking up the $130 pl520 to try again but where could the problem lie here?

Could it be a short somewhere within the setup, and would the diode even receive power if there was a short?

By the way, I am powering the x-drive with one 18650 cell. Thanks in advance.

What's the battery current draw with the (presumably) dead blue? Does it work with another driver?

I actually solved my own problem... It was bothering me so I went back to work on it, I figured there was no way I could of killed these diodes, so I again researched the driver and wasn't using enough voltage using just one Li-ion, I needed more voltage and that solved the problem ! Thanks for the reply though !
