If it doesn't work with the spray paint it might be something I try with the acrylic GITD paint and my airbrush :) I think that would be really neat and something fun to show my son.

Don't know what kind of paint the Krylon "Glowz" is.
Think I mentioned this but a can of that spray paint is only $5 and you can spray it on practically anything. Best is to use it on a white back ground and it says this on the can. Kind of went overboard and bought about 10 cans of the stuff:D
The other stuff at Walmart called PLAID Glo-away is found in the crafts section and is pretty nifty also as it is washable so you could put it on pretty much any washable surface and maybe even yourself.
GITD and 405 are made for each other.
For a quick big "screen" you could put either one on a white bed sheet;)
Did you ever try messing with the sample I snet tmack?

Me and my son put it on his painting table. And as far as getting on yourself, my son glowed for about a half hour :) up to his elbows. He was amazed. Should have seen his giant smile :D I have some left. I'll take pictures. P's made absolutely sure he didn't get any in his eyes or mouth. Definitely brought joy to my whole family with your goodies!

Wait, If you hit GITD mist with a 405 does it glow in mid air? Can you see a "Phantom Beam" after you've turned off the laser?

THAT needs to be tried!! may , however be another thing best seen in person-
most all my lights i n my living room have been swapped out for blacklights-around 500mW- I make a dye from hlighters in every color and in a spray bottle is looks pretty cool in mid air-(in BL) downside is my dark green carpet is stained with this but you can only see it with the BLs on--

Of course any particulate in air will make any visible laser show more in a beam- but GITD spray may be a whole new efx.

"Thanks Len. No, the software didn't show up today unless it is coming some way other than USPS
That's OK, it will eventually get here

You are certainly most welcome to say anything you want here Len
Everyone here should give him due respect, he has earned it and way before I ever joined not to mention how much he does for others outside of this forum.
If there were such a thing as honored guests in this thread, Len and Lazerbeak would be at the top of my list. Hmmm, wonder if it's an "L" thing.....
Take a look back about the "James" thing that happened as a for instance for Len."end-quote

TY for the kind words- i try to either pay ahead or pay back when it comes to good deeds- James would have done no less than i have if the roles were reversed.

AixiZ can only offer QS at that price by getting 25 at a time- so we are talking about a check for >$10K-- sales are not easy to predict- many have gotten QS lately from Chuck including my orders and the one given away free at SELEM (every year)- so we just happened to hit the time when AixiZ was running out- ebay and amazon orders came in and were prepaid so sorry -- but i cant ship a QS to you until Monday the soonest- a new batch is on the way from Pango Orlando.

Those wanting more info about LUMIA can find it here or in the LUMIA Thread i started--

There is a boatload of LUMIA info at other laser forums-some great pics and vids and lots of help- google LUMIA and follow the links to members like Swamidog- I am not permitted to post links- sorry

LUMIA has been around in some form for nearly 100 years-

DR Evil made the most amazing portable LUMIA-- He has pics posted someplace-

IF you are like the typical laser geek -- not many peeps around you are also laser fans- especially when it comes to handhelds- one good way to make them enjoy and understand our passion is a simple thing like LUMIA-
get the family/friends involved with the building of these- spyro-liquid sky etc

LS requires something like a fogger-if you want one VERY cheap find my new thread-' FOGGERS!! its time to get you ONE!!'

hope I have been of help to one and all- donate to LPF any amount is great.

Len:thanks:

Should check out that Lumia thread as Len stated. Lots of inexpensive stuff happening all over the place here.
Haven't had a chance to look at the "foggers" htread yet but I will say that they are very inexpensive. When I was looking around a store called "Party City" here they had 4 or 500 what ones for $300 and 8 or 1000 (can't remember) ones for $50. You can even buy a remote control and timers for them if you want. The fog juice goes a long way too.
I've had one for many years before I ever got into lasers and mine still works just fine. Mine is 700W and puts out a huge amount of fog. A little goes a long way indoors when it comes to lasers so you really just need a small one for indoors.

hak is great at thrift. He's the man for a huge assortment of finds and he shares them and tells us how to do the same thing.

I was looking at that little ray vac flashlight, while little tony played with the other one! What kind of setup could I use to turn that into a laser. Is that little head enough space to work anything into it. Or where could I find a nice looking coupling for the two to give me some space.

Well, it may be big enough to put in a harvested single AAA pen that Fasttech sells. Must have purchased at least 30 or more of them for various projects and to give away.
Everyone I know who has bought one for about $8 has been floored by how small and nice it is. It comes with a star cap and an alkaline battery. Lots of those units that I showed in my 1000th post thread were made with one of them. They actually have a pot on them too but you have to be more careful messing with it than the regular modules as the pot is more sensitive. Have gotten plenty that adjusted to over 100mw.
They usually are around 69-70 mw as is which is really decent power. What makes the difference with all the Fasttech stuff is how low the IR is in them so you really get a serious beam.
This is why I encourage people to buy at least one of the 3V, 5V and single AAA pens so you can see for yourself.
Fasttech owes me a $10 card for points I've accrued and they are supposed to be sending me the code to redeem it.
You should always use code BLF for anything you buy from them as it takes off a small amount on most things.
Only thing I wish is that the single AAA pens came in another color other than white but I've painted quite a few of them a different color.
I just counted and have almost 40 of the white housings so that says I've actually bought maybe 50 of them over time,
What I always did when ordering from them was to always throw in a few things like these to my orders.
If you follow the same procedure I showed in my inexpensive build thread, you can remove the whole module easily while still retaining the top piece that you can install the star cap on still to make another small build more interesting;)

The only reason why I've only purchased a couple of the 405nm modules (way over spec of course) is because for some reason they add this clear glue between the board and brass and unfortunately every one of mine has had the glue touching the pot and it is extremely hard to get it off without ruining the module.

I sure hope I don't sound like I am rambling. My fever just keeps climbing.

Whats the word on the doctor. You should be on your way now. My girl says be careful the amount of ibuprofen you use to keep it down. I know life has a way of throwing curves at the people who don't deserve it but I mea............I know your tired of hearing about it so I won't keep rambling. I'm not a spiritual person , but just in case there's a guy in the sky, please help our good friend pman, this one we got down here really doesn't deserve this, amen.

About the pens thing that's exactly what I was thinking. I
Ll have to order a few because I can't scrifice my pman special! I just think those little light look so sleek. I need one with a module inside. Ill see what I can do with my eBay pointer. Not a pen but I wouldn't mind if I destroyed it. Won it auction style for 2 bucks. Almost as bright as the Cree you sent. Very ugly dot though.

First I hope your at, or have been to see the doctor about that fever. Don't fool around with one that high and I said ibuprofen just to get it down so you could get to the Dr.

Now, the pens arrived and I metered them on the LPM, here is the breakdown.

405nm #1 135mw-#2 12mw
532nm #1 12mw- #2 13mw
650nm #1 168mw- #2 01mw Really one mw!
Thanks again and get better.
Ed

update: the 405nm module arrived today and unlike the one pictured on Fast Tech's web site, does not have a pot.
So if you were thinking of one for your Pman special keep that in mind. The one I got is 50mw.

Well, I may be off work for 6 weeks total (looking like I wil go back to work on the 28th) and had no income from my job but that doesn't mean I haven't been messing around with stuff.
I had purchased so many of those Walmart flashlights that I had lots of stuff left over so here are the hosts ready for a module when at some point I have a little $ again. It's a bit of an optical illusion as some look slightly bent but they are all completely straight;)
This is what happens when you have some time on your hands and need something for them to do while watching the entire extended edition of Lord of the rings again:)

Awe man. My girlfriend is gaga over the pink. I just sent her the picture. Are they all green modules , in true Pman fashion? :)

And where can I get one of those couplings?

I think they are pending modules if I read it right.

PMAN THOSE LOOK AWESOME! I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOME SIMPLE FLASHLIGHT HOSTS BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ONES THAT LOOK LIKE THEY WILL BE ON PAR WITH A PMAN SPECIAL. aND I LIKE HOW YOU MIXED AND MATCHED FLASHLIGHTS, BUT I'm HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING LIGHTS THAT WILL FIT TOGETHER. ...

sorry about caps, it was still on when I switched systems and I don't feel like retyping all of that.
