I found this:
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Sharp-Pitches-at-8x-Blu-Ray-Lasers-Until-2010-81425.shtml
http://www.cdrinfo.com/sections/news/Details.aspx?NewsId=22833
(all other pages in google searching "8x diodes" gives the same text with different format)

From what I understand of max outputs:

6x: 250 mW max
8x: 300 mW max
8x or 12x: 400 mW (Supposing a 10x ?)
(max=blu-ray burner output=safe current??)

So I deduce a safe current between 200mA and 250mA for our 8x from that page. You all have set it to more that 250 mA for the diode altough some at 250mA gives more than 400 mW. i dont get it...So far the above is true for our 6x: at 190-200mA we get almost 250mW with 405-G-1 mod lens. I need an expert oppinion. ..:)

PD: one question: Can power be meassured without lenses ??? (just the diode into the heatsink, cuz that would be the max output for the diode at a certain current).

Please read the previous posts - EBay is one way, but online retailers, or indeed local shops all stock the same item. It is up to you to find one at the right price. We are not going to do the work for you! Also, no need to swear (or abbreviate swear words) - it won't make you popular.

F-alarm -----

The Pioneer and sony 8x drives are found occasionally on ebay and others for various prices. I got my pioneer with some luck for a good price.
What you are being told is fact -- you have to look for the best deals on new technology.
Welcome to the forum and I wish you a lot of luck with your sour grapes post.

thanks. so far i found a 8x lg for 250...

i have been researching, and know a considerable ammount so far. what i meant in my post was more along the lines if any of these dealers actually had sleds back in stock. i realize that didnt come out in that way. BUT that does not constitute someone judging me for what i say or how i say it.

Six "frozen" beauties?

Hi BNuggs, Dave, Mike, Intro74, Jay, Quantile,:gh:

What's happening? I open this topic three times a day at least, hoping to find new wonderful news about your gorgeous lasers, but it looks that everything has been frozen like in the castle of "The sleeping beauty" cartoon movie.....:tsk:

Have you gone forward experiencing your lasers? Have you decided for a duty cycle, and at what PO? How long has been your maximum operating time? Etc etc......

I can understand for a duty cycle for Jay, he decided to fit his 8x in his pocket mini, but what about the others? How are the various heat sinks working? Quantile, what about your experience with your beautiful C3 SS host?

Cm'on guys, tell us (and show us) something more about your jewels...
