I recently got an LOCw workign with olike casing and lm317 running at 381mA. It burns when focused. however a lot of light is scattered around the beam, like a flashlight. This is annoying went pointing of certain services that reflect the light because it's spread out a lot.
I can't tell well the light is coming from. the o like module is adjustable..

I think it must be the lens. It's scattering a lot of light. I owonder why this is. it's a glass one.

It's a diode housing w/red laser glass lens (OL1845-RL)

I noticed the lens has a little rectangle on it that's a little off center. It doesn't have any particles on it but I'll try cleaning it with lcd screen cleaner later.

I would try compressed air first if that doesn't work you can try acetone and a microfiber cloth that should work or at least help.

@skelit0re If you don't like it here leave there are plenty of helpful people here but there not going to help you with that attitude.

Word of the Day

I had a hunch that it was coated for a different wavelength, which might cause poor beam quality. OP posted that it was a lens optimized for red. I had no need to reply about my hunch, which turned out to be incorrect.

Lam0r,

If you can see a mark on the lens, then that is almost certainly what the problem is. Also, if you defocus the laser so that you can see a giant circle instead of a dot, you will be able to tell if that spot is blocking/changing the output drastically or not. the spot will rotate with the lens while the pattern of the diode will stay stationary.

Good luck cleaning it. Perhaps compare it to an aixiz lens to see if the threads match. If so, you could buy a replacement aixiz lens coated for red.

Listen loser, I wasn't saying anything directly to anyone and I wasn't asking for any help. I was just commenting on the fact that a question had been asked, yet no one would answer it without boasting all they think they know. No actual solution, just pointless grandstanding. And if YOU don't like what I freely say, filter me.

People were asking legitimate diagnostic questions to try and find the source of the problem. I don't see why you have to take up an attitude against that when people are just trying to be helpful, especially since you were the only one who posted that had not contributed to solving the poster's problem.

Goodbye skelit0re. I hope you enjoyed your short time here.

Lol. It's REAL HARD to use TOR or a proxy and register 1000 names if I choose. Grow up, nerd. Your meaningless threats are useless. I'll do as I please, and you are just as powerless here as in real life. Beside all that, I don't recall saying or doing anything that broke any rules. If you don't like what I have to say, don't read it.

Hahaha, well, you go have fun doing that.

I think you are a bit delusional as to who is entertaining whom here... I keep baiting you and you keep biting. LOL! Dude if one thing I accused you of being was indeed false, you would not be putting so much effort into arguing with me. You have proven that you have nothing else to do in your life than to hang out on these forums and look for trouble. How absolutely pathetic. Look for example at how long it took you to respond to each time I replied to you, and this is just in one day... Now, are you going to continue to entertain me? Or, are you going to swallow your false sense of pride and learn something? I can't wait...
