So here's the story; I have never been inside a laser. When it comes to lasers I have no idea what I am doing at all. I did work in a TV repair shop for 6 years, so I have a grasp of circuits and components and their function. IE: diodes, resistors, caps, Etc.

I really want to learn to build and repair lasers. I thought my first step would be buy one I could play around with; measure values, compare circuits, and so on. I had a chance to buy a few of the below pictured sleds/drivers for cheap.

The first thing I need to know is the dc+ and dc- inputs for this unit. I have tried searching this forum (and the net) for the #'s on the units with no luck. Also tried SAM'S FAQS, but without knowing driver type and #'s I have no where to start. The place I bought them from didn't know squat.

If anybody knows what this unit is and what pins are power inputs. it would at least give me a start. I do see a large resistor (2W?) on the driver, so I am assuming this is a fairly powerfull driver/diode. I am also assuming driver voltage to be 3 to 7 VDC? I would start out at 3V DC and work my way up (keeping a thermocouple on the resistor) watching for excess heat, correct? I have quite a few, so if I burn one up no big deal

I know I am asking a lot, but I just need a push in the right direction to get going. What Pins are DC+/ DC- will get me started. Thanks

maybe a macro pic of just the PCB would greatly help. u could id the ic chip and look at the datasheet for a good start...

oh yeah what is this out of, a printer?

Long time no see WHL.

Hey instead of messing with those unknowns why not get a few PHR sleds to play with? They are cheap and will get you in the door to making lasers.

Yes give Scopeguy20 a PM he has lots of PHR and GGW and SF-210 and LPC sleds and I have never gotten a bad one from him.
