The chance for not working diode is a thousand times bigger then an IR filter, but hey, he probably has an IR filter on his cam...

Why not just upload the picture?

I can not upload it at the moment because I am on my phone but I did try it out andnt does actually have a filter.. Yet it seems that ir being shown on my other cam as well from the laser. Is it possible for me to fix the diode or replace it for cheaper than a whole new laser?

Some green hosts can just unscrew to top, you may check if you can unscrew it somewhere to get the module out, but since this one is focusbable Its probably not that easy...

Since this is a DPSS laser its still possible that it is emitting strong Infrared Light, so be careful when messing around with it. Try to shine it into a Cam and look if you can see a light on the display of your digi-cam, cellphone or similar. DONT shine it in your eyes, even if there is nothing coming out of it...

Never mind I can't upload them, dude just send it back to rayfoss madeye is right the diodes most likely dead.

What phone are you using? o_O

You need exactly the same diode as your module had before, same wavelength, beam specs e.t.c.... Finding this diode is almost impossible, and even if you find it you must somehow replace the old one, which is also not that easy on green modules...

And since this laser is only 30$ it would be really easier to just buy a new one... :(

I feel as if sending the laser back to rayfoss, having to pay for shipping and new parts will end up being more than buying a new one. But I'll email them and check it out.

I am using an iPhone. Do you guys know of any DIY green laser kits under 50$? Because I honestly would like to learn how all this stuff works. And maybe if that one breaks ill actually be able to fix it?

Can you say which iPhone? I own a 3G and the 4 (not S) and Im pretty sure none of them has an IR filter...

Good luck with your laser... ;)

If you want to start building lasers, start with red, blue or bluray ones... Greens are DPSS (yeah, there is this one diode, but I think this is out of range with 250$) and this is a lot more complicated. Actually most here are using finished modules for their green builds

[edit]

Wow, looks like its true, the iPhone 4s does have an IR filter. Im sorry Iman, looks like this time you were right.

Well alright thanks. I would be fine with buying parts for a green and just put it together. Do you have any DIY red or blue kits on your mind? And why would a phone camera want to contain an IR filter?

Its looks like the camera chip of the iphone is a little to red sensitive, so they decided to filter a little bit out to get a more realistic picture.

Iman, dont feel like beeing a super hero now. Maybe you were right this time, but looking through your post history still 9 of 10 posts are wrong information or simply wrong..

If I remember correctly its to keep IR light from ruining pics.

Imans rule Nr. 1: Never give an explanation!
Imans rule Nr. 2: A short post is a good post!

olike has a pretty good reputation around this forum and its known their lasers are up to spec. Looks like budget lasers have some good pen lasers but you never know what you get from them. So just spend 3$ more for a nice laser ;)
