I have no clue why, but many (especially the newbies) fail to put thier location in thier Profile Page. That is your choice, however, I, for one can not and will not be much help without your location. No need to waste your or my time. Its just a common courtesy to identify your general location.

I am not being rude. Just practical.

Same thing goes for your age. I have no desire to have any issues with the parents of minors.:thanks:

I agree with the location, even if it's just a country, however I don't agree with the age

Some people may find it hard taking advice from someone who may be younger than them, or when purchasing a laser from them they may doubt there building ability due to there age.

well they are idiots- we have some members short on years but long on great info.

LaserBen comes to mind. Dismantling DNA sequencers for the argons at IIRC 15.


I dont refuse to help the younger crowd, but like I said--- I dont want to end up with a lawsuit from a parent.

I dont see where a person lives has anything to do with answering questions. Unless you're prejudiced or something. 99% of parts recommendation are through the mail, so why do you need to find out where people live? They could just lie anyway.

Not trolling, I just dont get it.

For example...
If a member asks where to get an item that is not in the B/S/T
sections... it makes it easier to direct him to a place if I knew
that he lived in Canada or the USA and not Siberia... I don't
have many contacts in Siberia....

What's the big deal about keeping your Countries location private.
No one is asking for your apartment number and your shoe size...

As to putting your age in your profile... that would be a good thing.
I've handled some members a little harshly in the past only to find
out they were very young... If I had known their age I would have
taken that into consideration in my responses..

I agree with Hak.... At least the country where you live and your
age would help in a member's Profile...

I do it in my profile... because I have nothing to hide..............

People have a right to privacy. This is the internet, why add more information than needed? It just gives the bad guys more information to screw with you.

I'd agree with you if brick and mortar stores carried the items we use, but they dont, so the majority of the sales are through mail. And you dont recommend mail sales by location, you recommend the people you trust, no matter where they live. Right?

Since our falling out you have opinions like this on everything I do.

Location, at least the country, is not a big privacy thing IMO.

I just finished a long reply to a guy w/o his location. I have posted many times that I prefer to not ship to some locations. Had I know the location of this member I could have saved us both a lot of time.
