Need help with Diode

i gutted this diode off of one of those big office printers , it was pointing at a hex mirror turntable thing. anyway i was wondering how i would power it and if id be able to use it on my reprap to cut vinyl ? only markings on it is an R next to the pins

PICS ... will add later as my phone is dead.

Really depends on the diode package. It would be easy enough to modify the extruder to carry a diode instead of a hot end.

IIRC the diodes out of printers are not very strong (sub 1mW) and they are IR.

I wouldn't bother with that. The lens looks nice, though.

Keep the optics you found, they will be good for learning and tinkering with a low powered laser.
