My Argon Isn't Working

Okay so this is my first Argon. I have the following:

JDSU Argon Head 2211D-25MLHCH
JDSU PSU 2111P-25MLHCH
JDSU Remote Interface Model # 2500

I have plugged everything in....the white connector with all of the circles and the black connector with the hexagonal pin formation. I put the remote interface on the user interface port and plugged it in. Power on PSU comes on but I cannot change the tube current from 0 on the remote. The adjust buttons just don't respond.

Couple things I noticed:

1. The black connector doesnt have all the pins it has room for. Not sure if that is normal but I only see 10 pins and there are 4 empty slots. Maybe it is meant to be that way, who knows?

2. The adjust buttons on the interface do nothing.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

The argon I used to have didn't have all the pins present in the connector - that doesn't necessarily point to an issue.

Have you confirmed all the interlocks are in place?

Can you post images of your setup?

Any way to jump pins on the unit and remove that controler from the mix?

I am not sure what you mean about the interlocks....I have been doing lots of searching on how to make this run but I feel like there is some "common knowledge" that just isn't written many places.

The fan comes on but no photons are home :/ Here are pics of the setup:

Any ideas? The black connector I have been connecting with the full row of pins connecting to the top row of pins on the female connector, such that the missing pins are closer to the bottom. This is the only way I have been able to plug it all the way in with so I assume it is right.

Thanks,
Isaac

That bit helped IMMENSELY!!! I didn't really know what settings to use until I read that.

Turns out I wasn't giving it the 40 second delay time the manual suggested. Turns out though that it turns on after about 5 seconds with the right switches setup.

I now have a 6 line Argon System and it is so sexy!!!! I am in love! I am going to buy a good quality prism or diffraction grating to separate the colors out since using a star field grating doesn't separate them much.

All the plus reps to you sir!

Awesome! Glad you got it working! :D

I'll keep an eye out for beamshots. ;)

Just curious... what does the Argon beam look like when all 6 lines are all mushed into one? Some blue-green weird color? :D

It's a really wonderful aqua color, with a richness that you can't really get with only one wavelength.

You've just got to see it; seeing a multiline argon laser in person is a laserist rite of passage. :D

It is more beautiful than you can ever imagine. If a water nymph was real, it would be the color of her magic. If water was this color in real life I would drown from being in it too much. It is seriously the coolest laser I own. Period. I will try to get some good beamshots but it may take a bit for me to get everything like I want it.

Hehe, glad you got it working. I was thinking either it's the delay circuitry, the enable line, or the remote. Glad it was only user error. =P

Yeah, derp ;) I just shot a video of this sexy beast. Youtube is almost done processing it and then it will be up. I went ahead and made a review thread that I will be adding to and embedded the video as a taste of what is to come. Great lasers deserve great reviews.

HERE is my review thread. It might should be in the review subforum instead of the gas subforum but I doubt it matters.

Thanks,
Isaac

Throw a dvd in front of it. That should hold you over until you get your grating.

Did you trip on some combat marbles and it epically smashed?

The "combined" beam is being reflected passed the diffracted color lines in the pic below

Peace,
