First off I would like to start out by saying that I am fascinated with lasers, I own a 75mW 532nm Viper from dragonlasers and I have had it for over a year now. Recently I have become even more interested in laser and now I am waiting for my 1Watt 445nm Spartan (along with the safety glasses) from dragonlasers to come in the mail.
After I get used to owning a high powered laser, I would really love to be able to start building my own lasers as I feel that It will make the whole laser experience even more fun. Only problem is, is that I have never done it before so I am completely new to this. I want to build a high powered 405nm laser from scratch
but have no idea where to begin. I mean I know the basics but not any details.
So I need the bare 405nm laser diode, an AixiZ Module, a host, a driver
Do I need a heatsink, or is the Module the same thing as a heat sink?
Which type of driver do I need for a 405nm? I want the laser to be handheld so I will need a battery pack aswell. How many volts will the laser need?
Do I need a lens aswell?
I would really appreciate if someone could help me out with these questions.
A link to a great video would be appreciated aswell.
I have also used the search function on this forum, but every post I find it looks like it's written in mathematical formula's to me. xD

I saw styropyro's video of the 100mW green laser he built using the module from DX, but it looked like the whole driver+Module+diode was all wired together already and I would like to learn how to do that myself.
