Ledshoppe laser not working

I got it today and after charging the battery it doesn't do anything. The lock is unlocked, the battery is charged and I tried putting it in both ways. Any ideas?

RETURN it ASAP. The longer you wait, the less chance you have for them to replace it for you. 532nm lasers aren't very easy to fix anyhow...

I sent them an e-mail. Let's hope they reply.

Don't buy anything from Ledshoppe. They sell garbage and never respond to e-Mails. A $5 eBay pen will have the same or better performance for a fraction of the price. As to the repairs, you have to isolate the problem. Take it apart and use an IR camera, such as a Sony Nightshot™ to see weather there is any infrared emission. The IR if present is very powerful, so you also need IR safety glasses to protect your eyes. If there is no IR, it's either the driver board or the IR diode. If there is IR present, then you'll have to search the forums for crystal alignment. Ideally you should have safety glasses that block 808nm, 1064nm, and 532nm. Such safety glasses will cost as much as several of those laser pointers. If you attempt any of this without safety glasses and get blinded, it's your own fault and don't say we didn't warn you.

Return it ASAP for replacement/exchange---looks like 10 days is the limit for you to return it.

I understand the dangers of lasers and nobody will be blamed if I kill myself. As for returning it, the cost of that is more than what I paid for the laser. So that isn't an option. Any ideas on taking it apart? The top is an adjustable knob and when you unscrew it all the way the part you twist comes off and you can see the diode but It doesn't come out. From the bottom I can see the spring and the button.

Sounds like it might be a press-in module. If not, you'll at least need to press on it really hard to break the glue. The proper tool would be either an arbor press or hydraulic and the appropriate dies. Failing that, you might be able to get away with a large strong bench vise. Anyway, I doubt it's the actual diode you're looking at. There are a lot of other optics in there.

Yes. It's the optics. Any way to get the driver board out without the need of a vise?

A hacksaw/dremel would get it out.
