LED status light mod for lava micro flex/boost drives

I need a status light for my upcoming 445nm build. Would there be a way to easily mod either the flex or the boost driver to also drive a small LED?
Also, I doubt I'll be able to do this, but could I simply connect the LED in series with the laser diode? Or maybe even in parallel?

Wire the LED in series or parallel with the driver, not the diode. LED's are cheap, I would not even worry about a driver, just get the proper resistor and wire it in parallel with the driver.

Ah, the simplest solution is usually the best one. Thanks!

If you'd want the light to show before the driver powers up the diode, you'll have to do some more complicated work for timings (a 555 timer and mosfet/transistor, or similar). If not then an LED with resistor directly to the battery is simple and effective, but offers no "delayed start up" with warning light already switched on - so it won't be as safe. Part of the FDA qualification for a safer 3B/4 laser, is that the laser should show a visible warning (wavelength of LED significantly different to laser - so it can be seen even through goggles) for several seconds before any beam emission.

I agree with what Pontiac states above, that's the easiest way.
