That is a true jury rigged host. Did you try taking the lens out and looking at the light emitted straight from the diode? That will help determine if your problem is with the lens or the diode it's self.

without the lens it looks like a perfect circle with the purple being darker on 20% of the top and bottom of it (horizontaly) and a minimal visible dot in the middle.

Thanks for supplying pictures, it makes this a lot easier to troubleshoot.

Hmm, that unfocused light doesn't look right. I would advise you to clean it with some rubbing alcohol and a fine cloth, but if someone with a little more knowledge or experience can chime in, I'm sure they'd be able to give you a more educated suggestion.

From my understanding, here is what you are seeing

Did you look at the light without the lens before? Was it like this before or was it a solid circle?

I'm not sure if the lens is the problem. Did you see in the picture I linked to you in my previous post how the spread of the light in the completely unfocused light looked like it kinda matched up with the light when focused?

I'm sorry I was vague when I said " I would advise you to clean it ", I ment the window of the diode it's self. Many people advise against this and I don't blame them, I never want to do it but one time the window of my 405nm laser got dirty, I cleaned it with a fine cloth and rubbing alcohol and now it looks about as good as new.

Right, that still works.
When I cleaned my diode window, I got a very very verylittle bit of alcohol, put it on a fine cloth, put the cloth right ontop of the diode window (it was still in the Aixiz if you are wondering) and used the graphite from a mechanical pencil to get the area of depression down to a fine point. I moved it around a bit to clean the entire window. After that, I let it dry and viola! It was alright, not as good as it was origionally, but still good!

Before you do anything though, look at the window of your diode, is there anything on it that could decrease output?

I'll admit my ignorance and ask what an R-A is?
Also, did you look at the light without the lens before? Was it like this before or was it a solid circle?

That small white square could be the silent killer here, diode windows are usually spotless.

Haha :) DTR, may I ask what is with your zombie?

Hate to say it but I am pretty sure by the picture of the raw output your diode has gone zombie. :cryyy:
