I'm at the point where i always break my lasers! Ive taken the head off, and now im at the part where there is the alunimum metal that appears to be glued (i think) in the body. I'm not sure how to go about taking this out.
What i would like to do with my laser is get to the mainboard so I can solder the switch to always be on, using my tailcap as an on/off switch. I'm using my KD 150mW Focusable Baton Style laser btw. here is a picture of where im at.
I just need help removing the last part! :)

I wrap electrical tape around 2 small pairs of Channel Locks jaws for grip without scratches, then place the jaws where they need to be, & twist in opposite directions. Just make sure you don't SQUEEZE the handles too hard or you'll crush whatever your holding! just my $0.02 phoenix77/rob  Hope this helps you out, keep me posted please!

thank you! but normally I'm used to grabbing the aluminum part, i cant do it on this laser, it's further in the body as you can see in the picture, the only part sticking out is the golden part, which I've never grabbed afraid it would break it. Since there are threads on the golden part I take it the tape would just slide..

also, the golden threads dont seem to serve any purpose lol, when i screw on the top it's the black threads that it screws onto.

so just to confirm... is it safe to grab the gold part?

If anything, the threads will provide a better grip, not slide, just don't squeeze the handles of the channel locks too hard & you'll be OK. Just remember that Aluminum & Brass are soft & will deform in shape if squeezed too tightly. Good Luck, & may the LASER-GOD watch over your work ;Dphoenix77/rob

trying not to squeeze too hard, but the rough part on the claws just rips right thru the tape. it doesnt seem to be working.
im really not sure what to do :-/

i dont know if i do pull the brass out if it will come out with the aluminum or just the brass by itself.

When you wrap the jaws, I usually use about 5 or 6 layers per jaw! You might not have enough tape on them. Also, watch the brass section for deformation while squeezing, it will give before the Aluminum will, unless the Al. is very thin! rob  GL

EPIC FAIL!
i might as well add this to my collection of broken lasers (unless KD accepts refunds/replacements).

i tried to turn the brass that was sticking out (which i did manage to finally do). Yes i turned it, but thats all it would do, spin, and move the entire mainboard inside. i was not able to get it out, and trying to turn it a little thing on the top fell off, it was glued on.

I sent an email to sales@kaidomain.com about an exchange. They said if it's within 30 days of purchase it should be ok. good thing im doing this now, if i waited 8 more days it would be a month from my purchase. here is the picture.

Hey mikey, that top piece is no big deal. Its just a lens. Glue it back on and it will be just fine, just make sure its clean

I'll see what I can do with my 50mW one when it arrives in a week. It looks like that outer ring with the notches can screw out. That's how the Newwish laser I had worked. Looks like that blue stuff is glue too.

no the outer notches didnt seem to screw out. That was where the head (that focuses) screws on.
the blue stuff didnt appear to be glue or feel any different, it was just like a different color.
