okay. so i have read every single tutorial and everything that i can get my hands on from this site. Im jst having a few problems understanding a few things, and if i sound stupid or like a ''newb'' i apologize in advance.

Okay, I want to build a bluray laser. if u all think i am gonna kill the diode first go i will do a phr build. I have welded plenty of times before. none being in the last 6 months. I have never soldered. I really want a 6x blu ray build .. but like i said phr would be just fine,,

Now to my questins.

Hightechdealz has a phr diode already installed in an aixiz module. okay so i buy that, buy the driver from hightechdealz to support this diode. I have a few ideas in mind for a host. What all does one have to do to figure out if his build setup is right for his host in mind?

and one thing confuses me.. how in the hell do you get the damn thing connected to your battery supply? I know you have a diode in a module. soldered directly to your driver(or with lead wires soldered from the diode to the driver).

after you have your module set and connected to your driver, assuming i have them set the driver at 110mA for a phr diode just to be safe and happy and treat the diode nicely.. after that What do you do to make sure it will fit in your host? and how do you connect your setup to your battery supply. and can you use any set of batteries your particular host accepts as long as it equals your drivers max voltage or whatever?

Sorry if i sound dumb or newby or whatever, but i have a few lasers and would like to understand them more and i want to build my own SO FRIGGGGGGGING BADLY! i just cannot wrap my head around a few things, and understand what exactly must be done to make sure that my phr diode. in an aixiz module. connected to a driver from high tech deals at 110mA will fit in my host, and how to set it up in my host, and how the heck do yuo connect it to your battery supply? please help anybody. I want to make my own laser and i want to have many more builds eventually.

i just need a teacher, i am anybodys student at this point so please please help.:(:yabbem:

since you don't have much experience i would recommend building it in a radio shack project box first. this route gives you much room to work with. and when you can easily see what you are doing it will enable you to learn easier and be less frustrated while working with small parts.

first you will need to make a test/dummy load. this will enable you to set your driver. REMEMBER... drivers are not preset. www.rog8811.com

next hooking up your driver to a power supply... get power directly to the positive side. then set up your power switch through the negative path.

next you can solder your laser diode directly to the driver or use short tinned insulated wire. 22ga or smaller.

this is the bare basic. once you get a feel for all this and soldering, you can take it apart and install the parts in a host..

when you do a build you evaluate what is the most important part first..ex.
if driver is more important (because you may have one already)
host (because you might have that already)

once you decide on that the you can pick the rest of your parts accordingly... batteries, driver, host, etc...

how do you do this? do you get a power switch from radio shack? do you solder wires to the power switch to your driver? im still at a loss to understand how to get power to ur driver? there has to be some kind of wires involved inthere somewhere right. does anybody have a picture, video, anything that can make sense of this for me...
i am so confused.

what kind of wire is used period in your laser driver is another big big question of mine. ive seen many videos that show them making a phr diode laser on a breadbox circuit board and it shows lots of different wires but i have no idea what kind of wire it is...

if you can't understand what i wrote in post 2 then maybe diy lasers are not for you... sorry.

one last shot at redemption. buy a premade laser from a member here. buy the cheapest one you can find... use this as practice laser. take it a apart and learn about it.

The Photonlexicon.com forum can help on most of your questions. You should check them out too. Signing up is easy.

When asked, you should know that LASER is an acronym consisting of the following constituent words:
Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation

Dude why would you say that? If he goes there asking questions like
this, those elitist will RIP HIM APART!

@jakeGT:
apparently you haven't read enough here, if you still have such basic questions,
or maybe what you need now is just some hands-on.
I suggest get a 5$ laser off ebay and take it apart, take a look at the
module, enlightenment will ensue.

Why? Because there is a wealth of info on there. Much more than here. Its just another option. Who cares about a couple of loud mouths?

If you're doing a PHR Build have a wire from the + and - from the diode to the + & - output on the driver. Solder a wire from the case pin on the diode to the - Input of the driver, solder a wire from the + on the host (If your using a flashlight style) to the + input on the driver

more info here

http://laserpointerforums.com/f38/first-phr-803t-build-56434.html

the wire is 26ga

good luck

I'm graduated highschool, I haven't built lasers for years, or any kind of electrical circuits for that matter of fact, I'm not stupid, I was just asking for help in understanding a few things such as what kind of wire I would go to radio shack and get when I tried to do my first build. I've read goninanbloods and morgans complete guides from top to bottom. I was just trying to get clarification on a few things, sorry for bugging you guys. I know what laser stands for.

Edit:I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about the other dude saying if I couldn't understand his posts that I shouldn't be playing with lasers or whatever
. I just wanted to know what he meant, witch a simple picture or answer wouldn't been better than what I got.

If I had a basic schematic for a phr diode in a project box from radio shack with it labeled what the components are I would probably understand alot better, I'm sorry if I offended anybody I guess my last post came out wrong. I just wanted to build a laser... I have red blue and green that I bought and just wanted to learn how to make my own purple. Sorry ignus, and sorry chip. Wasn't trying to get angry or anything. Just trying to comprehend

I don't care about loud mouths at all but apparently I asked some unspeakable questions here or something? Anyone can rip me apart of they want . All I asked for was help understanding how to build a laser.

You took me wrong. I was just giving you another avenue. An avenue of pros. And when you sign up you have to answer the question "What does the letters of the word laser stand for". I was just trying to help out, and not calling you stupid.

who ripped you apart? my second post was a clear guide to help get you started. you said you didn't understand it. then i posted more advice for you.

I was quoting Whoever said they would rip me apart on that other website
Not you. I wasn't talking about you , I was saying on the other website or any other website people could rip me apart if they wanted as long as I learned what I wanted to learn

Sorry for the vonfusion

Oh Jake, double posting is frowned upon, if you use your edit button that would be great :)
