How to replace a broken protective glass?

Hello all,

I am the happy owner of a Spyder Arctic S3.

While cleaning the protective glass of the full-power front sight, I broke it by pressing too hard. :wtf:



What is a simple way to replace it? And what kind of material should I use? How do I make sure I get zero diffraction?

YEah but then if I beam it vertical and it starts to rain, I'm screwed

Wicked Lasers just uses regular glass for these windows. Go to a glass shop and have them core you out a circle the same size from some single strength glass

It would be better to keep your head about you in the rain than to replace that reflective glass in the laser

Then you need to find a piece of glass and deal with diffraction being present... :undecided:

Ideally you'll find some AR glass and have it cut into a circle. Or you can do what WL did and just find some uncoated glass.

The New Glass they use is AR coated glass that is extremely cheap and Chips easily. Iam not supprised the glass broke aswell.

I have yet to find anything close to what they use.

The only thing i can think of is what Dave said but rather then going to a glass shop measure the diameter of the glass and check DX or china gadget sites for a flashlight glass that will fit in there. Its ~20mm IIRC.

But the down side of this is you will loose ~100mW with a Regular piece of glass rather then there AR coated one.

If you dont mind waiting, Give them a call and buy one. Its what i did but they gave it to me for free.:wave: It took 3 weeks to come in. This was 1 ~year ago.

Thanks for all the good feedback, I already asked a replacement glass to Wicked but since they seem too busy to answer me, I think I'll try to find some AR-coated glass to replace it myself.
