What is the easiest way of getting the aperture cap off of my Lyra G5?
I've tried many things, but I can't really get it off.
I received my Lenspen a few days ago, and I want to give the lens a nice cleaning.

I can't remember exactly what that laser is built like but if it is like CNI pens then press your palm on the cap and twist, it works for me. If that doesn't work try using a vice and a hacksaw. ::)

Thanks.
I will try the palm and twist thing, but not the vice and hacksaw::). I think that it is the same as the Novalasers X-series, so the cap was meant to come off.
I'm on vacation now, so I will try it when I get back.

Still no luck, I tried twisting but the skin on my fingers started peeling off because of the rubbing :(.
Any more suggestions?

Get stronger skin ;D

But seriously, it really shouldn't be that hard. You could wrap the head in a towel or electrical tape, and then grab it with a pair of pliers to get it off.

Will you stop trying to bring different threads together!

You're gonna confuse Wesdaman14

Is the lens dirty? If it ain't, leave it alone.
Yes the lens is dirty, when I point it at the wall from 2 meters away there are speckles 1 meter away from the dot...

I wrapped the head with a towel and twisted the cap with pliers, but the towel didn't provide a good grip and would just turn. I tried the same thing with electrical tape, but the tape ripped and now I have a small scratch on the cap :(.

well if you cant get it off but you really NEED to there is one last option. IF you've exhausted all other options. grab it with a pair of vice grips really hard and screw it off. You WILL make marks in the head, but if you grab it hard enough you wont leave 'scrapes' if that makes sense.

they sell some really weird 'rubber band' looking wrenches that may be good for this.

The "rubber-band" wrench may be a "strap-wrench". If you try the "vise-grip method", use the elctrical-tape as GG advised, lots of layers, (try 20+), wrapped-tight.

Try the ol' blocks-of-hardwood-with-a-hole-between-them-gripping-the-end-using-a-vice method. It works for me to get the heads off other lasers. Often they're pressure fit so you just need a lot of effort. Look inside the barrel through the aperture to try to see if it's a screw-on or pressure fit.
