I would contact the place you bought it and bitch a storm until I got a new one.

Don't look at the dim red light!
Did you drop it or bang it?
Green lasers are powered by an IR diode that then goes through a set of crystals to produce the green beam. If those crystals become misaligned then you will be lef with only IR. That is just one of the reasons your laser might have died...

So if I would be able to align the crystal in the correct place, it might shine again?
But how is that done? Just twisting and turning?

on lasers like that they are not adjustable.. I'd return it if you've only had it for a day..

Returning is the best option. 50mW probably still has combined crystals, so my guess would be that the diode is not aligned (not close enough) to the crystals.
